The Data Architecture function provides the means, methods and solutions needed to support the efficient collection, storage, transfer, manipulation, analysis and reporting of data as well as the need to deliver information for use by decision makers. Responsible for multiple aspects of data management and operations for the firm, including database administration and design, business intelligence and data architecture, data analytics, governance, and quality. Specializes in developing tools and processes to maintain a common, firm-wide data standard. Implements norms for creation and maintenance of common data dictionaries. Assesses, manages, and maintains strategies to reduce data redundancy, increasing the consistency, quality, and confidence of data used for decision making.
4‑year degree/post 4‑year degree/advanced certifications, and typically 12‑14 years of related experience; or an advanced degree with minimal experience; or equivalent work.
Recognized as technical expert by internal and external peers. Knowledge resource on multiple projects/initiatives across the company for a variety of internal/external customers. Serves in a variety of roles such as team/customer advisor or project manager.
Erroneous decisions will result in critical delay(s) in schedules and/or unit operations and may jeopardize overall business activities.
Provides technical mentorship and cultural/competency-based guidance to teams. Provides larger business/product context. Mentors on specific tech stacks/technologies.
Results are key to successful completion of major projects/programs.
Works on issues of diverse scope where analysis of situation or data requires evaluation of a variety of factors, including an understanding of current business trends. Follows processes and operational policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Acts as advisor to others to meet schedules and/or resolve technical problems.
May lead junior team members.
