Additional Director @ Betterbeans | Innovating HR Strategies for Growth & Talent Acquisition
Experience: 15+ years
Role Overview: As an Enterprise Data Architect, the candidate will be one of our most senior technical visionaries and a hands‑on expert responsible for designing and building transformative data solutions for our global clients. This is not a theoretical or "PowerPoint architect" role; it is a deeply technical "player‑coach" who thrives on solving the most complex data challenges by getting their hands dirty, writing code, and building prototypes. The candidate will leverage extensive experience across hybrid and multi‑cloud environments to lead from the front, setting the technical standard for our entire data practice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead Technical Design: Architect and deliver enterprise‑grade data platforms across on‑premises, hybrid, and multi‑cloud (AWS, Azure) environments, owning the technical roadmap from conception to implementation.
- Prototype & Innovate: Build proof‑of‑concepts and prototypes to validate architectural decisions, explore new technologies, and de‑risk complex implementations.
- Code & Customize: Go beyond high‑level design to write code for critical framework components and customize open‑source (OSS) tools by diving into their source code to meet unique client requirements.
- Drive Pre‑Sales Engagements: Serve as the ultimate technical authority in customer meetings and on RFPs/RFIs, architecting credible, hands‑on solutions that inspire client confidence.
- Mentor & Elevate: Mentor senior engineers and architects, establishing best practices in coding, design, and deployment. Lead by example with a strong "get your hands dirty" work ethic.
- Troubleshoot & Optimize: Act as the final escalation point for the most challenging performance, scalability, and design issues, personally leading the effort to diagnose and resolve them.
Experience Level:
- 15+ years of progressive, hands‑on experience in data engineering and enterprise architecture.
- Hands‑On Prototyping & Development: Demonstrable recent experience in writing production‑quality code, building prototypes, and directly contributing to the codebase. The candidate must be comfortable and proficient in coding alongside engineering teams.
- Platform Architecture: Extensive experience designing and building large‑scale, resilient data platforms from scratch across hybrid, on‑premise, and multi‑cloud infrastructures.
- Multi‑Cloud Expertise: Deep, hands‑on architectural and implementation expertise in at least one major cloud platform (AWS or Azure preferred), with strong familiarity with a second.
- Open‑Source Mastery: Code‑level expertise in at least one major open‑source data framework (e.g., Spark, Flink, Trino). Proven ability to modify and extend OSS source code is a desired requirement.
- Architectural Fluency: Mastery of batch, real‑time streaming, and event‑driven architectural patterns and the ability to apply them to solve complex business problems.
- Pre‑Sales Acumen: Significant experience leading the technical strategy for complex, high‑value RFPs and RFIs for global enterprise customers.
- Strategic & Visionary Leadership: Ability to define a long‑term data strategy that aligns with business goals, anticipate future trends, and inspire teams to build toward that vision.
- Executive Communication & Influence: Exceptional skill in articulating complex technical architectures and their business value to C‑level executives, technical peers, and customers with confidence and clarity.
- Pragmatic Problem‑Solving: Creative and analytical mindset, capable of deconstructing ambiguous problems and designing elegant, effective solutions while balancing technical purity with practical business constraints.
- Mentorship & Team Empowerment: Genuine passion for elevating the skills of others, actively mentoring senior engineers and architects, fostering a culture of technical excellence and collaborative ownership.
- Stakeholder Management: Proven ability to build strong relationships, manage expectations, and navigate complex organizational dynamics with both clients and internal teams to drive consensus and achieve success.
- Resilience & Composure: Demonstrates grace and effective leadership when faced with high‑pressure situations, tight deadlines, and critical production issues.
- Compliance: To adhere to the Information Security Management policies and procedures.
