Job summary

Google LLC is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for Workspace Search Quality to help build scalable search and ML-powered experiences across Google Workspace. You will work on retrieval, ranking, and natural language understanding to improve how users find content and collaborate efficiently.

The role emphasizes hands-on coding in Python or C++, deployment of ML models, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to ship production quality features, with opportunities to influence system

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of experience programming in Python or C++.
• 3 years of experience with ML infrastructure (e.g., model deployment, model evaluation, optimization, data processing, debugging).
• 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products.
• 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
• 1 year of experience with GenAI techniques (e.g., LLMs, Multi-Modal, Large Vision Models) or GenAI concepts.

Responsibilities

• Identify opportunities to improve the Search quality by incorporating advanced ML technologies in Search projects.
• Build solutions to enable novel Search experiences (e.g. natural language queries).
• Design and implement machine learning models and algorithms for improving search quality.
• Solve complex problems related to interactions between different search components like query understanding and ranking.
• Handle all technical aspects of development including requirements, design, implementation, unit testing, and integration.
