Job summary

Coursefinder.ai is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to own backend services from design to deployment. You will build scalable REST/GraphQL APIs with Node.js, design data models in PostgreSQL, and drive complex enrollment workflows that power the student and counsellor journey.

Collaborate with product, frontend, and data teams, set standards for code quality, security, and reliability, and craft AI‑aware architectures for production systems.

Qualifications

• 5+ years backend engineering with strong Node.js depth.
• Production PostgreSQL experience: schema design, indexing, query tuning.
• Experience shipping RESTful APIs at scale.
• Hands-on integration of LLM APIs into production systems.
• Strong system design fundamentals; opinions on service boundaries and data contracts.
• Comfort working in ambiguous, high-ownership environments.

Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer who thinks in systems, writes production‑grade code, and can own backend services from design to deployment. You will work with product, frontend, and data teams to build the APIs, workflows, and AI integrations that power the core student and counsellor journey on the platform. If you have spent the last few years writing clean APIs and calling it a day, we expect engineers at this level to hold architectural opinions, push back on bad abstractions, and care about what happens in production.

What You Will Work On

• Core Backend Engineering :
• Design and build scalable backend services and REST/GraphQL APIs using Node.js
• Own data modelling and query performance on PostgreSQL
• Build and maintain complex, stateful workflows, enrollment pipelines, matching logic, multi‑step application flows
• Set and enforce standards for code quality, security, and system reliability
• Ownership and Architecture :
• Own services end to end design, implementation, deployment, monitoring
• Build fallback mechanisms and safeguards around AI‑dependent flows
• Contribute to backend architecture decisions and engineering standards
• Participate in code reviews and raise the quality bar for the team
