Job summary

UnitedHealth Group seeks a software engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable backend services using .NET and Python. You will model and optimize relational databases, develop UI with Angular, and manage microservices with REST and messaging patterns.

You will ensure production readiness with CI/CD, automated testing, monitoring, and incident analysis, while contributing to AI-powered platform initiatives and fast delivery.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in a software engineer role with collaborative work experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft SQL including DDL, DML, procedures and functions.
• Solid hands-on experience in C# and .Net, with Agile/Scrum know-how.
• Experience with REST/gRPC design, logging, monitoring, and CI/CD tooling.
• Ability to work as an Independent Contributor and continual AI learning.

Primary Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs using .Net and Python
• Model, optimize, and maintain relational databases (schema design, indexing, query tuning, migrations)
• UI Development skills using Angular
• Develop and maintain microservices with efficient communication patterns (REST APIs, messaging, etc.)
• Write clean, reusable, and well documented code
• Ensure production readiness: CI/CD, automated testing, monitoring/alerting, and incident response/root-cause analysis
• Optimize the application code and maintain good design practices
• Independently own and deliver in a timely manner with high quality
• Analyze and resolve security vulnerabilities within the application before pushing the code into Git repositories
• Create innovative solutions to meet the needs of the business and to improve the overall health and reliability of the applications
• Design, develop, and deploy AI‑powered solutions using no‑code, low‑code, and advanced platforms, translating business needs into scalable applications that enhance products, workflows, and decision‑making
• Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re‑assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regards to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). Required Qualifications

• B. Tech / MCA / Msc / MTech (Minimum 16 years of formal education)
• 4+ years in a software engineer role before and know how to contribute to a culture of appreciation and continuous peer feedback
• Microsoft SQL expertise, including DDL, DML, aggregate functions, stored procedures, and user defined functions
• Experience using Copilot or AI coding assistants
• Solid hands‑on experience in C# and .Net
• Extensive experience in Agile and Scrum. You know how to work within teams against a single backlog, and how to enable true CI/CD
• Solid knowledge of:
  • REST/ gRPC API design
  • Logging, monitoring, performance tuning
  • CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions / Jenkins)
  • Proven ability to work as an Independent Contributor
  • AI & Emerging Skills
• Proven excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proven continuous learning mindset, especially in AI & modern engineering

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in development of AI components using Python. Familiarity with MCP (Model Context Protocol)
• Experience in MongoDB (NoSQL data modeling)
