Job summary

Optum, a UnitedHealth Group subsidiary, seeks senior software engineers to design, develop, and maintain scalable enterprise apps using C#, .NET, REST APIs, and SQL Server. You will architect microservices, ensure security, performance, and reliability, and collaborate across Product, QA, and DevOps teams.

You will also build front-ends with Angular, implement CI/CD with GitHub Actions, containerize with Docker, deploy to Kubernetes, and apply SOLID and Clean Architecture.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of experience designing and developing large enterprise solutions using C#, .NET Framework/Core, SQL Server, EF, microservices, and DDD.
  • 5+ years of experience designing web solutions using Angular and React, RESTful APIs and microservice architectures.
  • Experience with AI productivity and engineering tools such as GitHub Copilot, Microsoft 365 Copilot, Codex, Claude, and VS Code-based AI-assisted development.
  • Proven solid engineering fundamentals including APIs, microservices, scalable system design, testing, debugging, documentation, and secure development practices.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable enterprise apps using C#, ASP.NET Core/.NET Core, Web APIs, and SQL Server.
  • Architect and implement microservices-based solutions with high availability, scalability, security, and performance.
  • Develop and consume RESTful APIs and integrate with internal and external systems.
  • Build responsive front-ends with Angular, TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3, Bootstrap.
  • Design and optimize database schemas; write efficient T-SQL and stored procedures.
  • Implement secure authentication/authorization using JWT, OAuth 2.0.
  • Maintain CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions.
  • Containerize apps with Docker and deploy on Kubernetes.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners, Architects, QA, and DevOps teams.
  • Apply SOLID, Clean Architecture, design patterns.
  • Participate in code reviews and troubleshooting.
  • Develop unit/integration tests; monitor apps and performance.
  • Work in Agile/Scrum; assist with planning and backlogs.
  • Mentor juniors and contribute to engineering standards.
  • Design, develop, and deploy AI-powered solutions responsibly.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable enterprise applications using C#, ASP.NET Core/.NET Core, Web APIs, and SQL Server
  • Architect and implement microservices-based solutions, ensuring high availability, scalability, security, and performance
  • Develop and consume RESTful APIs and integrate with internal and external systems
  • Build responsive and user-friendly front-end applications using Angular, TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3, and Bootstrap
  • Design and optimize database schemas, write efficient T-SQL queries, stored procedures, and performance-tuned SQL solutions
  • Implement secure authentication and authorization mechanisms using JWT, OAuth 2.0, and industry best practices
  • Maintain CI/CD pipelines using GIT actions to automate build, deployment, and release processes
  • Containerize applications using Docker and deploy/manage workloads on Kubernetes platforms
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product Owners, Architects, QA Engineers, and DevOps teams to deliver high-quality solutions
  • Apply SOLID principles, Clean Architecture, Design Patterns, and best coding practices to ensure maintainable and robust software
  • Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis of production issues
  • Develop unit and integration tests to ensure application quality, reliability, and performance
  • Monitor applications, identify bottlenecks, and implement performance improvements
  • Work within Agile/Scrum teams, contributing to sprint planning, estimation, backlog refinement, and release activities
  • Mentor junior developers and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, technical standards, and engineering best practices
  • Design, develop, and deploy AI-powered solutions to address complex business challenges with emphasis on responsible use of AI
  • Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regards to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field OR having equivalent experience
  • 10+ years of technical experience designing and developing large enterprise solutions using C#, .NET Framework, .NET Core, SQL Server, Entity Framework, micro services architecture, and domain driven design
  • 5+ years of technical experience designing and developing web solutions using Angular and React, RESTful APIs and microservice architectures
  • Experience with AI productivity and engineering tools such as GitHub Copilot, Microsoft 365 Copilot, Codex, Claude, and Visual Studio Code-based AI-assisted development
  • Proven solid engineering fundamentals including APIs, microservices, scalable system design, testing, debugging, documentation, and secure development practices
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1+ years of experience working with GitHub Copilot, Microsoft 365 Copilot, Codex, Claude, and Visual Studio Code-based AI-assisted development
  • Experience working with Angular technology
  • Solid experience designing, configuring, and executing automated CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions)
AI Skills and Productivity Expectations
  • Demonstrate baseline proficiency in enterprise-approved AI tools including GitHub Copilot, Microsoft 365 Copilot, Codex, Claude, and other approved GenAI platforms
  • Maintain consistent use of AI tools, with an expectation of minimum 90% weekly usage where applicable to coding, documentation, analysis, and delivery workflows
  • Apply AI tools to improve developer productivity, solution quality, documentation efficiency, testing support, data analysis, and decision-making workflows
  • Stay current with evolving AI capabilities, LLM frameworks, agentic patterns, RAG techniques, and enterprise AI governance expectations
