Senior Software Engineer – Localization (GLP Team), Bangalore
We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Global Localization Platform team in Bangalore, India. The platform provides an automated string management system that handles user-facing text across all Warner Bros. Discovery products, streamlining localizations through the Studio suite.
Roles & Responsibilities
- You are a recognized subject matter expert in one or more production systems.

- You design, develop, and maintain scalable backend and frontend services that power WBD's localization infrastructure, enabling fast, high-quality multilingual content delivery across platforms such as HBO Max, Discovery+, and CNN.
- You own major technical components of the Global Localization platform, contributing to architectural decisions and proposing solutions for performance, scalability, and reliability challenges.
- You lead by example in writing clean, maintainable, and well-tested code across technologies including Node.js, Java, React, and TypeScript.
- You drive feature implementation from idea to production—breaking down requirements, proposing designs, estimating effort, writing code, creating tests, and monitoring after deployment.
- You participate in code reviews and design discussions to raise the technical bar and foster a culture of engineering excellence.
- You contribute to building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure configurations, and cloud deployments using AWS services and DevOps tooling.
- You lead troubleshooting and resolving complex production issues—analyzing logs, metrics, traces, and system behavior to identify root causes and define long-term improvements.
- You continuously improve observability and system resilience through real-time dashboards, proactive alerting, and fault-tolerance patterns.
- You work closely with product managers, localization experts, and other engineers to deliver robust, user-friendly, and well-integrated features.
- You support and mentor junior engineers, promoting technical growth and knowledge sharing.
- You stay up to date with modern engineering practices, tools, and architectural patterns, driving adoption of relevant innovations.
- You actively optimize team processes to improve efficiency and quality.
What to Bring
- 5-9 years of professional software engineering experience delivering robust, high-scale backend and frontend systems in production environments.
- Advanced backend development experience with Node.js and advanced frontend development with TypeScript.
- Mandatory localization workflow experience.
- Hands-on expertise with AWS cloud services, particularly Serverless, Lambda, API Gateway, Step Functions, S3, DynamoDB, CloudWatch, and EventBridge.
- Strong understanding of microservice architecture, asynchronous systems, and communication protocols (REST, gRPC, event-driven).
- Experience with DevOps practices including Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD (GitHub Actions), and infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation).
- Practical knowledge of databases: PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Redis, and Elasticsearch.
- Strong focus on system observability—comfortable setting up dashboards, defining alerts, and analyzing operational data using CloudWatch, Prometheus, Kibana, and Grafana.
- Familiarity with localization or internationalization challenges (ICU format, string management, translation workflows, Unicode handling) is a plus.
- Proven ability to break down complex problems, design modular solutions, and communicate technical decisions clearly.
- Demonstrated mentoring ability and active participation in raising team quality through reviews, pairing, and documentation.
- Effective communicator across disciplines—presenting and justifying technical approaches to peers and stakeholders.
- Experience working in agile, product-driven environments and contributing to planning and prioritization.
