Role Overview — Embedded Systems Solution Architect
We are looking for an experienced Embedded Systems Solution Architect to lead embedded platform architecture, integration and development initiatives, from prototyping through MVP and production rollout.

Expected experience
- Strong experience in Embedded Linux, Yocto/Buildroot, BSPs, bootloaders and kernel/device drivers.
- Knowledge of SoCs, cross-compilation, firmware development and system integration.
- Experience with CI/CD, automated testing, software deployment and OTA update mechanisms.
- Strong technical leadership and experience delivering production-grade embedded platforms.
What We Are Looking for:
Key Responsibilities
- System Architecture & Design: Define and document high-level and low-level designs (HLD/LLD) for embedded platforms, covering software architecture, interfaces, performance, reliability and maintainability.
- Hardware–Software Integration: Work with hardware teams to integrate processors, boards, peripherals and embedded software components.
- Embedded Platform Development: Guide the development and integration of BSPs, device drivers, middleware and system services.
- Communication & Connectivity: Define and integrate interfaces and protocols such as UART, SPI, I²C, CAN, Modbus and TCP/IP, based on system requirements.
- Embedded OS & Build Systems: Lead embedded Linux development, including Yocto/Buildroot, bootloaders, kernel configuration, cross-compilation and system-level debugging.
- Build, Release & Device Updates: Define automated build and release workflows, software packaging, deployment, OTA updates and rollback mechanisms.
- Security & Reliability: Address secure boot, software signing, device identity, access control, system recovery and applicable product standards.
- Technical Leadership: Guide engineering teams, review designs and code, resolve complex integration issues, and drive technical decisions across development phases.
- Documentation & Engineering Practices: Maintain architecture documents, interface specifications, integration plans and release procedures throughout the product lifecycle.
Technical Proficiency
- Architecture & Technical Leadership
- Ability to assess an existing platform, define a target architecture, evaluate integration options and document migration decisions.
- Experience leading technical reviews, resolving system-level issues, mentoring engineers and coordinating cross-functional teams.
- Ability to guide delivery from prototype and PoC through MVP, production readiness and ongoing support.
- Strong C++ skills, preferably C++17, with C and Python for embedded development, integration and automation.
- Linux command line, Bash scripting, process management, filesystem, system logs and debugging.
- CMake and Make; experience maintaining and integrating existing software components.
- Embedded Linux Platform
- Hands-on experience with Yocto Project, including layers, recipes, configuration and custom Linux image generation.
- Understanding of bootloaders, Linux kernel modules, device trees, BSPs and cross-compilation.
- Experience integrating software components and troubleshooting issues across the OS, middleware and application layers.
- Build, CI/CD & Release Management
- Git-based development, code reviews and automated build and integration pipelines.
- Software packaging, artifact repositories, dependency management, versioning and reproducible builds.
- Experience maintaining release configurations and managing software across development, test and production environments.
- OTA Updates & Device Lifecycle
- Experience with embedded device provisioning, registration, configuration and software deployment.
- Understanding of OTA update mechanisms, A/B system updates, rollback, recovery and update failure handling.
- Ability to integrate device-management and update workflows with existing platform services.
- Practical understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, subnets, routing, proxies, HTTP/HTTPS and TLS.
- Experience with MQTT and industrial communication interfaces or protocols such as Modbus and OPC UA, as relevant to the product.
- Ability to troubleshoot connectivity between the gateway, connected equipment and cloud or on-premises services.
- Embedded Security & Reliability
- Understanding of secure boot, software signing, certificates, device identity and secure update mechanisms.
- Experience with vulnerability assessment, dependency updates, security patching and software lifecycle maintenance.
- Familiarity with automated testing, regression testing, static analysis and production issue resolution.
Additional skills preferred
- Container Technologies: Familiarity with Docker or Podman and containerized application deployment on Embedded Linux.
- Advanced Diagnostics: Experience with JTAG, hardware-assisted debugging, system tracing and performance profiling.
- Embedded Coding Standards: Familiarity with MISRA C/C++ and static analysis tools.
- Functional Safety: Exposure to IEC 61508 or other applicable product safety standards.
- Hardware Platform Exposure: Experience with industrial gateways, ARM-based SoCs and board-level integration.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline.
- Overall Experience: 12+ years in embedded software development and platform integration, with substantial experience in Embedded Linux.
- Architecture Experience: At least 4 years defining embedded system architectures, technical solutions and platform integration strategies.
- Technical Leadership: At least 4 years leading embedded software development teams and driving cross-functional engineering delivery.
- Production Delivery: Proven experience taking an embedded platform from design or PoC through production release and deployment in real-world operating environments.
- Technical Expertise: Strong hands-on knowledge of Embedded Linux, Yocto, hardware-software integration, build and release automation, and system-level debugging. Experience with CI/CD, OTA updates and device lifecycle management is preferred.
