Job summary

Porch Group in India is seeking a Senior Software Engineer I to join the Insurance Services team. You will work on backend services, extract property attributes, and collaborate with engineers, product managers, and data scientists to deliver robust solutions.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in software development, strong SQL/PostgreSQL, JVM languages (Scala/Java), and cloud experience (AWS/GCP). Familiarity with Docker/Kubernetes, Kafka, and CI/CD is a plus, with US hours overlap required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field or four years of equivalent work experience
• 5+ years of software development experience
• Experience with SQL and PostgreSQL
• Production JVM language experience, preferably Scala
• Familiarity with data science concepts, data labeling, or information extraction
• Exposure to containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), event-driven systems (Kafka), cloud platforms (AWS, GCP) or CI/CD pipelines
• Exposure to Scala
• Proven experience working with US based business teams
• Excellent written and communication skills in English

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and data scientists to develop and extract property attributes.
• Develop and maintain backend services with clean and tested code following Porch practices.
• Participate in code reviews and technical discussions to learn from more experienced team members.
• Take on well-defined tasks and communicate status within the team.
