Job summary

UnitedHealth Group's Optum division in Hyderabad is seeking an experienced software engineer to design and build scalable web applications using React.js, Java, and Spring Boot. You will architect secure microservices, develop RESTful APIs, and deploy cloud-native solutions on Azure.

Join an Agile environment, implement CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions, and leverage AI-enabled tooling to accelerate delivery while maintaining code quality and security standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/IT or 4+ years of equivalent software engineering experience.
• 5+ years of software development experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• 3+ years of front-end engineering with React.js, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3.
• 3+ years designing RESTful APIs and microservices architectures.
• 2+ years building and deploying cloud-native apps on Azure.
• 2+ years building CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions or similar DevOps tools.
• Experience using automated testing, static analysis, and AI-enabled development tools.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-performance web applications using React.js, Java, and Spring Boot
• Architect and implement secure, resilient, and reusable microservices following industry best practices
• Develop and integrate RESTful APIs to enable seamless communication across distributed systems
• Build and deploy cloud-native applications on Microsoft Azure, leveraging platform services for scalability, security, and reliability
• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and DevOps tools to automate build, test, and deployment processes
• Ensure code quality through code reviews, unit testing, integration testing, static code analysis, and test automation
• Use enterprise-approved AI tools to streamline workflows, automate tasks, and drive continuous improvement
• Collaborate with product owners, architects, and cross-functional teams in an Agile/Scrum environment to drive SDLC execution from requirement analysis through production support
• Troubleshoot production issues, identify root causes, and drive performance optimization, security compliance, and operational excellence
• Comply with all applicable Company policies, procedures, and business directives, changes including those relating to work location, team assignments, work schedules, and flexible work arrangements

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or 4+ years of equivalent software engineering experience
• 5+ years of software development experience building scalable applications with Java and Spring Boot
• 3+ years of front-end engineering experience using React.js, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS3
• 3+ years of experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs and microservices architectures
• 2+ years of experience building and deploying cloud-native applications on Microsoft Azure
• 2+ years of experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions or similar DevOps platforms
• Experience utilizing automated testing, static code analysis, and AI-enabled development tools to accelerate software delivery

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
• Experience with Spring Security and web application security protocols
• Experience mentoring junior and mid-level engineers through technical guidance and peer code reviews
• Experience championing modern engineering practices and evaluating emerging AI software tools to enhance engineering productivity
• Proficiency with state management frameworks (e.g., Redux, Context API) and responsive web design
