Job summary

H&M is seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer to join the Compass product area, supporting global fashion brands with scalable eCommerce experiences across online, in-store, or internal systems.

You will design, build, and maintain backend services using Node.js, React, TypeScript, and Azure, focusing on API design, data models, and cloud-native architectures to power fast, reliable customer journeys for multiple brands.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science/Information Technology or related field.
• 6-9 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with React and TypeScript, building complex UIs.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Full Stack Engineer with a passion for innovation and fashion to join our growing technology team. WHAT YOU’LL DO

We’re looking for a skilled Full Stack Engineer who has experience with Node.js, React.js, Typescript and Azure to join our growing team. In this role, you’ll help design, build, and maintain the backend services that power our eCommerce applications. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys backend development, is confident in writing clean and efficient code using Node.js (React.js/Typescript) and likes working on modern cloud-based systems.

In addition to the above, your role will involve:

• Work on API Design: Help design and build APIs that allow the frontend and backend to work smoothly together. These APIs will make sure data flows quickly and efficiently in our headless eCommerce setup.
• Use Databases (SQL/NoSQL): Help with designing and working with databases. You’ll make sure data is stored and accessed in a way that fits the needs of our platform.
• Work with Azure Cloud: Use your knowledge of Azure to make our backend systems more scalable, reliable, and fast. You’ll make sure everything runs smoothly and connects well with our eCommerce apps.

Skills & Experience

• Degree in Computer Science/Information Technology (B.Tech/B.E/MS/MTech) or a related field
• 6-9 years of professional software engineering experience
• Strong hands-on experience with React and TypeScript, building complex, interactive UIs
• Proficiency in Node.js and TypeScript for backend service development
• Experience with client-side state management (Zustand, Redux, MobX) and immutable state patterns
• Experience with data-fetching/caching libraries (TanStack React Query, SWR, Apollo Client)
• Understanding of modern frontend build tooling (Parcel, Webpack, Vite, or similar)
• Experience building serverless/cloud functions (Azure Functions, AWS Lambda, or GCP Cloud Functions)
• Experience in Observability: Azure Application Insights
• Experience with SQL query builders/ORMs (Knex.js, Prisma, TypeORM)
• Experience with schema/runtime validation libraries (Zod, Yup, or similar)
• Experience designing and consuming REST and/or GraphQL APIs
• Working knowledge of relational databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL)
• Experience integrating with internal/external production APIs at scale
• Hands-on experience with a major cloud provider (Azure preferred, or AWS/GCP)
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions or similar) and containerization basics (Docker)
• Strong unit testing practices (Jest or similar)
• Experience with end-to-end testing frameworks (Playwright, Cypress, or similar)
• Strong system design judgment, including trade-offs across architecture choices

The marketing domain enables end-to-end marketing capabilities, from strategy and planning to content production and marketing activation, supporting global and regional teams.

You’ll be part of the Compass product area, Compass is H&M's internal assortment-planning tool. It gives buying and planning teams a single collaborative workspace to build, visualise, and organise seasonal product assortments. Planners work on interactive documents and boards where they arrange articles, frames, and elements, pulling live product data straight from H&M's internal product APIs.
