Job summary

NeST Digital invites applications for an Embedded Engineer in Bengaluru. The role focuses on developing, implementing and maintaining embedded software for medical and industrial systems using C/C++ on microcontrollers and embedded Linux.

You'll integrate hardware and software, analyze defects, run tests, document results, and contribute to automated testing. Collaboration across systems, hardware and quality teams is essential.

Qualifications

• Degree in CS, ECE or equivalent is required.
• Experience developing embedded software in C/C++.
• Knowledge of RTOS and/or embedded Linux is essential.
• Experience with communication buses (UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, Ethernet).
• Strong problem-solving, good English, and Python knowledge.

Embedded Engineer

Responsibilities

• Development, implementation, and maintenance of embedded software for medical and industrial systems
• Programming in C/C++ on microcontroller and embedded Linux platforms
• Integration of hardware and software components
• Analysis and troubleshooting of software defects
• Execution of software testing and documentation of development results
• Collaboration with systems, hardware (electronics), and quality teams
• Creation and maintenance of unit tests (including metrics)
• Creation and maintenance of automated software and device tests

Qualifications

• Completed degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a comparable field
• Experience in embedded software development using C/C++
• Knowledge of real-time operating systems (RTOS) and/or embedded Linux
• Experience with communication interfaces such as UART, SPI, I²C, CAN, or Ethernet
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Good English language skills
• Knowledge of Python
• Ability to communicate effectively across departments and across locations

Preferred

• Experience in regulated environments (e.g., medical technology)
• Knowledge of version control systems (Git) and modern development processes
• Experience with Zephyr OS, which is being considered for new implementations and is becoming the ZEISS standard for embedded software
• Experience with GCC, including migration from the Keil toolchain and development for Zephyr-based systems
