Job summary

Agilent Technologies is seeking an experienced Backend/ API developer to design, build and optimize scalable backend services using NodeJS and Python. You will work with a global team to deliver features driving revenue growth, architect data flows with NoSQL databases and search indices, and mentor peers on code quality and modern infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in API development.
• Expert programming skills in Python, JavaScript, NodeJS.
• Experience with public cloud offerings (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Experience with relational or NoSQL DB such as DynamoDB and search tech like OpenSearch.
• Able to pick up new backend technologies as needed.
• Familiar with API standards and frameworks.
• Ability to evaluate trade-offs based on cost, risk, and effort.
• Mentor engineers and influence decisions; consider customer impact in technical choices.

• Work with a team of engineers to deliver feature set that are crucial to Revenue growth.

• Architect, develop, and maintain robust, high-performance backend services and APIs using NodeJS.

Champion modern, maintainable infrastructure aligned with industry best practices and emerging technologies.

• 8+ years of experience in API development.

• Understanding of SaaS, PaaS, IaaS industry with hands-on experience with public cloud offerings (e.g., AWS, GCP, or Azure)
• Experience in relational or noSQL DB such as Dynamodb, Search technolgoes such as OpenSearch, Graph DB.
• Must be able to pick up new backend technologies as the need arises.
• Must be familiar with API standards and frameworks.
• Knowledge to evaluate trade-offs based on cost, risk, effort analysis.
• Practice in mentoring other engineers and influencing decision makers throughout the organization
• Consideration of customer impact when making technical decisions

Ways To Stand Out From The Crowd

• Substantial experience with AI/LLM driven use cases
• Experience in Code AI tools to gain productivity in coding. Eg. Copilot, Windsurf etc
• Good problem-solving skills
• Ability to work in a distributed team environment.
• Good written and spoken communications skills are crucial
