Neara is looking for a Senior Software Engineer (Backend) in Bengaluru. This role focuses on developing scalable financial systems using Kotlin, Spring Boot, and PostgreSQL.

As part of the FinX Tribe, you will design and scale the distributed financial systems that move $500M+ annually across 80+ currencies, manage accounting for 100+ subsidiaries with thousands of line items, and power algorithmic billing across thousands of products and hundreds of SKUs.

You will work across three core domains: Payments & Money Movement (Direct Debit orchestration, multi-bank integrations, FX execution pipelines), Invoicing & Accounting (high-throughput invoice generation, NetSuite integration, ledger synchronisation and back-sync), and Pricing & Billing (CPQ systems, real-time metering, complex pricing rule engines). Using Kotlin, Spring Boot, and PostgreSQL, you will tackle hard problems in distributed transaction correctness, idempotency at scale, multi-currency reconciliation, and building systems where financial accuracy is guaranteed by design—not validated after the fact.

This role is for engineers who thrive at the intersection of distributed systems, domain-driven design, and the unforgiving correctness requirements of financial infrastructure at scale.

What will I be doing?

• Leading parts of the product development from inception to launch, and own large parts of the product and its features.
• Working closely with our product and design teams to build products with the goal of delighting and increasing the success of our customers, in a very iterative fashion.
• Architecting, building, testing, and releasing features with the highest quality.
• Automating everything that an engineer should not work on.

What do I need?

• 6+ years of industry experience in a software engineering role, preferably building a SaaS product. You can demonstrate significant impact that your work has had on the product and/or the team.
• Deep knowledge of a high-level programming language (Such as Java, JavaScript, Go, Python, etc.) but it doesn’t need to be a language that we use here! Great people are effective and learn what we use quickly (or introduce us to better ways of working).
• Good understanding of web fundamentals (JavaScript/HTML/CSS) and exposure to one or more Front End stacks (such as React, VueJS, Svelte, Angular etc).
• Experience in working with cloud infrastructure on AWS, Google Cloud and the likes. Good to have: experience in scalable distributed systems.
• Willingness to quickly learn and use new technologies.
• Extremely data-driven.
• Work with and solve problems of very complex nature and enjoy doing it.
