Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.

Responsibilities

Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer specializing in Database Design to architect, implement, and optimize data systems that power our large-scale IoT cloud platform. This role focuses on database architecture, data modeling, and performance tuning for handling massive telemetry data, device events, and operational insights generated from RF Mesh–based IoT networks. You’ll collaborate closely with cloud, backend, analytics, and DevOps teams to ensure the platform’s data infrastructure is scalable, reliable, and secure.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement data models, schemas, and storage strategies for high-volume IoT systems.
• Architect and maintain relational (SQL) and non-relational (NoSQL) databases to support diverse workloads.
• Ensure data normalization, indexing, and partitioning strategies for optimal performance.
• Work with architects to design multi-tenant, distributed, and fault-tolerant database systems.
• Conduct query optimization, indexing, and tuning for large datasets and real-time transactions.
• Design data retention and archival policies for telemetry and time-series data.
• Optimize data ingestion pipelines to support millions of connected IoT devices.
• Develop database interfaces, APIs, and stored procedures supporting platform services.
• Collaborate with backend developers to design efficient data access patterns and caching mechanisms.
• Support ETL processes and data integration between cloud storage, analytics, and dashboards.
• Implement data encryption, access control, and role-based permissions.
• Ensure compliance with data privacy, integrity, and regulatory standards (ISO, GDPR, etc.).
• Monitor data replication, backup, and recovery processes.
• Collaborate with DevOps to automate database deployment, migration, and scaling.
• Work with data analytics teams to ensure efficient access to operational and analytical data.
• Contribute to database monitoring, logging, and alerting frameworks.

Required Skills

• Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
• 5–10 years of experience in database design, data modeling, and backend development.
• Strong experience with both SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MS SQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB, InfluxDB) systems.
• Expertise in data modeling, indexing, partitioning, and performance tuning.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS / Azure / GCP) and their database services (RDS, DynamoDB, BigQuery, etc.).
• Proficiency in database scripting and query languages (SQL, PL/SQL, Python, or similar).
• Familiarity with data streaming and messaging frameworks (Kafka, MQTT, or RabbitMQ).
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, scalability, and fault tolerance.
• Experience in CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, and DevOps collaboration.

Good to Have

• Experience in IoT, Smart Metering, or large telemetry data platforms.
• Exposure to time-series databases and real-time analytics pipelines.
• Understanding of data lake, warehouse, and ELT/ETL architecture.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset with attention to detail.
