We are looking for a Software Engineer with strong Java development skills and hands-on experience in cloud-native application development on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). You will be responsible for building scalable, high-performance backend services and deploying them on GCP. This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy backend development and want to work on cloud-native, distributed systems in a large-scale enterprise environment, with one of the world's leading global telecommunication companies.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications using Java and Spring Boot.
- Build and enhance RESTful APIs and microservices.
- Design, deploy, and manage backend services on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to architect cloud-native solutions.
- Optimise application performance, scalability, and reliability in cloud environments.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following engineering best practices.
- Participate in code reviews, debugging, and production support.
- Monitor and troubleshoot production systems deployed on GCP.
- Stay updated with emerging cloud technologies and software engineering best practices.
Requirements
- 5-8 years of hands-on experience in Java development.
- Strong knowledge of Java 8/11/17 and Spring Boot.
- Experience with REST APIs and microservices architecture.
- Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Compute Engine, GKE, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub, Cloud Functions, Cloud Run, etc.
- Good understanding of SQL/NoSQL databases.
- Familiarity with Git and CI/CD practices.
- Experience with containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong foundation in backend engineering and distributed systems.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ownership mindset with attention to code quality and performance.
Good to Have:
- GCP certification (Associate/Professional Cloud Engineer or Developer).
- Experience with messaging systems such as Kafka or Pub/Sub.
- Knowledge of Terraform or Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Familiarity with monitoring tools (Stackdriver, Prometheus, Grafana).
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development practices.
