Job summary

AssetPlus in Chennai is seeking a hands-on Senior Software Engineer (SDE-3) to own features end-to-end, write production-grade Node.js + TypeScript code, and architect MongoDB schemas. You will debug across backend, React, and Flutter apps, and leverage AI-powered tooling to accelerate delivery while maintaining high quality.

Reporting to a Staff Engineer, you will design scalable microservices, review system designs, decide when to build or reuse, and reinforce modern architectural practices.

Qualifications

• 6–8 years of full-stack engineering experience with backend focus.

THE ROLE

We are looking for a hands-on Senior Software Engineer (SDE-3) to own features end-to-end, exercise high autonomy, and elevate technical excellence across the team. You bring strong technical judgment, speed, clarity, and architectural simplicity to your work. As a core builder reporting to a Staff Engineer in a product pod, you will design services, write production-grade Node.js + TypeScript code, architect MongoDB schemas, debug across backend, React, and Flutter apps, and ensure high system reliability. You will also leverage AI-driven development as a core cognitive partner to accelerate delivery while upholding exceptional quality.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design and build scalable, resilient microservices and features with high autonomy within your pod's domain.
• Lead system design reviews, articulating technical trade-offs with first-principles reasoning.
• Evaluate and decide whether to build, reuse, or integrate open-source solutions, justifying architecture choices.
• Establish, follow, and strengthen team-wide modern architectural patterns and best practices.
• Write clean, highly maintainable, and testable Node.js + TypeScript code for production systems.
• Architect efficient MongoDB schemas and build optimized aggregations for high-throughput queries.
• Debug full-stack issues across React, Flutter, and backend services down to database and infrastructure layers.
• Utilize modern AI developer tools to ship features rapidly with end-to-end ownership without compromising code quality.
• Leverage AI tools as a cognitive partner to accelerate code generation, debugging, system design, and execution.
• Integrate AI models, context, and workflows into daily development loops for maximum efficiency.
• Continuously explore and adopt emerging AI capabilities to improve engineering output and code reliability.
• Promote AI-native engineering practices and workflows across your product pod.

• Monitor system health proactively and identify potential issues before impact.
• Respond swiftly to critical incidents, ensuring minimal downtime and high uptime.
• Lead root-cause analyses (RCAs), optimize system performance, and enhance observability.

Developer Experience & Quality

• Enhance internal developer tooling, automation, and CI/CD workflows.
• Uphold rigorous engineering standards around code clarity, testing, security, and simplicity.
• Champion lightweight, modular, and maintainable engineering design principles.
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, providing constructive code reviews and technical guidance.
• Communicate technical architecture and product decisions clearly across stakeholders.
• Foster an open, collaborative, and fast-paced engineering culture.

WHAT WE LOOK FOR

Requirements:

• 6–8 years of full-stack engineering experience with a strong backend focus (tenure is indicative; we value ownership and capability).
• Proven track record with Node.js and TypeScript in production, having owned services end-to-end.
• Deep expertise in MongoDB schema design, indexing, and complex aggregations.
• Experience operating high-load production systems with full accountability for uptime and performance.
• Strong full-stack debugging skills spanning backend services, frontends, and database layers.
• Pragmatic technical judgment with a bias for simple, maintainable solutions over complex ones.
• Excellent communication skills to articulate technical ideas and system decisions clearly.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Hands-on AWS experience (e.g., CloudWatch, ECS, Amplify, Lambda, SQS, SES).
• Working knowledge of React and/or Flutter for cross-stack debugging.
• Prior experience in Fintech, Wealth-tech, or SEBI-regulated environments.
• Active use of AI tools to significantly boost engineering velocity.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers and conducting high-quality code reviews.
• Experience with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and GitHub-based development workflows.
