Job summary

Wabtec Corporation is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead architecture, design, development, testing, and maintenance of software for GoLINC products used in rail. You will drive complex features, ensure scalable and reliable solutions, and mentor engineers across teams.

You will collaborate with Product Management, Systems Engineering, and Test Engineering to translate requirements into robust software designs and implementation plans, while upholding best practices and security

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or MCA.
• 8+ years of experience in software engineering with significant embedded real-time development.
• Experience with C and C++ development in embedded, multitasking, and multithreaded environments.
• Experience with RTOS platforms such as QNX and embedded Linux.
• Strong understanding of embedded software architecture and design principles.
• Experience with communication protocols including Ethernet, TCP/IP, RS232/RS485, Serial.
• Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and performance analysis skills.
• Experience with Python, Shell scripting, or similar automation languages.
• Experience with CI/CD practices and automated testing frameworks.
• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies including Scrum.

The Staff Software Engineer is responsible for leading the architecture, design, development, testing, and maintenance of software solutions for GoLINC products deployed in the rail industry. This role provides technical leadership across projects, drives design and implementation of complex features, and ensures delivery of high-quality, scalable, and reliable software solutions.

The engineer collaborates closely with Product Management, Systems Engineering, Test Engineering teams, and cross-functional software teams to gather/understand requirements, influence technical direction, and deliver solutions aligned with business objectives.
