Qualifications

• Proven experience designing distributed systems, RESTful APIs, and microservice or event-driven architectures, with relational and NoSQL DB design/optimization.
• Deep hands-on experience with core AWS services (EC2, S3, IAM, VPC, RDS, Lambda, CloudWatch, Route 53), IaC (CDK, CloudFormation, or Terraform), and networking fundamentals.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to work independently on complex problems and influence technical decisions across cross-functional teams.

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer with 4 years of experience building and operating scalable, cloud-native applications on Amazon Web Services (AWS). In this role, you will own the design and delivery of production systems end to end, from architecture and code through deployment, observability, and operations. You will shape technical direction, raise engineering standards across teams, and mentor junior engineers while working on high-impact, distributed systems.

Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and maintain scalable, highly available backend services and event-driven architectures on AWS using services such as EC2, Lambda, ECS/EKS, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, API Gateway, SQS, SNS, and Step Functions.
• Lead architecture and design discussions, author technical design documents, and make well-reasoned trade-offs between performance, reliability, cost, and delivery speed.
• Write clean, maintainable, well-tested production code in Python or Node.js/TypeScript, and drive best practices in code quality, testing, and code review.
• Own CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code practices using AWS CodePipeline, CodeBuild, GitHub Actions, AWS CDK, CloudFormation, or Terraform to enable safe, reproducible, and frequent releases.
• Establish observability standards using Amazon CloudWatch, AWS X-Ray, and OpenTelemetry, and lead incident response, root-cause analysis, and blameless post-mortems for production issues.
• Champion security and cost best practices, including least-privilege IAM design, secrets management with Secrets Manager and KMS, compliance monitoring with AWS Config, and cost optimization using AWS Cost Explorer.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, QA, DevOps ,and other engineering teams to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions.
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through code reviews and technical coaching, and maintain high-quality documentation, runbooks, and architectural standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science Information Technology, Electronics, or a related field, with 5+years of professional software engineering experience, including at least 2 years building and running production workloads on AWS.
• Strong proficiency in Python or Node.js/TypeScript, with a solid grasp of data structures, algorithms, software design principles, and testing practices (unit, integration, and end-to-end).
• Proven experience designing distributed systems, RESTful APIs, and microservice or event-driven architectures, along with relational and NoSQL database design and optimization.
• Deep hands-on experience with core AWS services (EC2, S3, IAM, VPC, RDS, Lambda, CloudWatch, Route 53), infrastructure-as-code (CDK, CloudFormation, or Terraform), and networking fundamentals such as DNS, TCP/IP, load balancing, and subnets.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to work independently on complex problems and influence technical decisions across cross-functional teams.

Additional Skills (Advantageous)

• Experience designing and building data lakes on Amazon S3 using AWS Lake Formation and the Glue Data Catalog, including partitioning strategies, columnar formats (Parquet, ORC), and open table formats such as Apache Iceberg or Hudi.
• Hands-on experience building batch and streaming data pipelines using AWS Glue (PySpark), Amazon EMR, Kinesis, or Amazon MSK, orchestrated with Step Functions or Amazon MWAA (Airflow).
• Proficiency in querying and governing large datasets with Amazon Athena and Redshift, along with data quality, lineage, and security practices such as KMS encryption, PII handling, and fine-grained access control.
