Job summary

ContiTech in Bengaluru seeks an experienced Senior Backend Engineer to design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems and APIs using Node.js, TypeScript, and AWS.

You will own one or more modules, collaborate with the Tech Lead, and drive SDLC tasks with a focus on security, performance, and reliability. Travel to R&D centers may be required.

Qualifications

• Experience in AI-powered development to improve engineering productivity and testing.
• Strong experience in Node.js as backend technology.
• Experience in TypeScript.
• Strong experience with AWS Cloud Platform.
• Hands-on experience with AWS Serverless (Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, S3, EventBridge, SQS, SNS).
• Good experience with Microservices architecture.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, MongoDB, Redis).
• Strong understanding of RESTful APIs and event-driven architectures.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions).
• Experience with unit/integration/API testing and code quality tools (Jest, Mocha, SonarQube).
• Strong Git proficiency and modern workflows.

Responsibilities

Job Description

• Leverage AI-powered development tools (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude, etc.) to improve engineering productivity, code quality, documentation, and testing.
• Evaluate AI-generated code for correctness, security, maintainability, and performance before production deployment.
• Participate in AI-driven code reviews, architecture discussions, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Stay updated with emerging AI technologies and recommend innovative solutions to improve products and engineering practices.
• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure, and reliable backend systems and APIs using modern technologies and engineering best practices.
• Own one or more product modules and work closely with the Technical Lead to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Identify, prioritize, and execute tasks throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Write clean, efficient, maintainable, and testable code following coding standards and architectural guidelines.
• Design and optimize backend systems for performance, scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency.
• Implement robust security practices to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance with enterprise security standards.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve production issues while ensuring high system availability.
• Collaborate with DevOps and Infrastructure teams to deploy, monitor, and optimize backend services.

Technical Skills

• Experience of AI-powered development to improve engineering productivity, code quality, and testing.
• Strong experience in Node.js as the primary backend technology.
• Experience in TypeScript.
• Strong experience with AWS Cloud Platform.
• Hands-on experience with AWS Serverless technologies including Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, S3, EventBridge, SQS, SNS, etc.
• Strong experience designing and developing Microservices Architecture.
• Good experience with relational and NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, MongoDB, and Redis.
• Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, asynchronous messaging, and event-driven architectures.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or CloudFormation) is preferred.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions, or similar platforms.
• Experience with unit testing, integration testing, API testing, and code quality tools such as Jest, Mocha, SonarQube, etc.
• Strong experience using Git and modern source control workflows.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of overall software development experience.
• 4+ years of backend development experience using Node.js and TypeScript.
• 3+ years of experience with AWS cloud services (Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, S3, ECS/EKS preferred).
• 3+ years of experience designing and developing Microservices.
• 2+ years of experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• 1+ years of experience using monitoring and code quality tools such as SonarQube, Datadog, AppDynamics, CloudWatch, etc.
• 1–2 years of experience leveraging AI-assisted software development tools in day-to-day engineering activities.
• AWS Certification and AI-related certifications are a plus
