Job summary

ADA Global is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer in Bengaluru to own server-side architecture, design scalable microservices, and optimize production infrastructure. You will lead technical initiatives, mentor engineers, and ensure reliability, security, and performance across backend platforms.

The role requires 4–6 years of hands-on Python/Django experience, strong OOP, and expertise in SQL databases, caching, and asynchronous processing.

Qualifications

• 4–6 years of backend experience in production.
• Strong Python and Django REST Framework experience.
• Expert in OOP, Clean Architecture, DDD, and SOLID.
• Deep SQL knowledge and caching strategies (Redis, Memcached).
• Experience with asynchronous processing (Celery, RabbitMQ, Kafka).
• API design for secure REST or GraphQL endpoints.
• Testing with pytest, Locust; CI/CD automation.

Role Overview

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Backend Engineer with 4 to 6 years of core backend software development experience to join our engineering team. In this role, you will take ownership of our server-side architecture - building scalable services, designing robust data models, and optimizing production infrastructure.

The ideal candidate possesses deep expertise in Python, Django, OOP design principles, distributed systems, and modern database architectures. You will lead key technical initiatives, mentor mid-level/junior engineers, and ensure high reliability, security, and performance across all our backend platforms.

Key Responsibilities

System Architecture & Design: Architect, build, and deploy production-grade, highly scalable, and low-latency microservices and RESTful/GraphQL APIs using Python and Django.

Database & Data Modeling: Design, optimize, and maintain complex relational (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and non-relational databases. Drive query performance tuning and caching strategy optimization (e.g., Redis).

Technical Leadership & Mentorship: Lead architectural reviews, define coding standards, conduct comprehensive code reviews, and mentor engineers to level up the team's engineering rigor.

Performance & Reliability: Identify performance bottlenecks, optimize application speed, drive zero-downtime deployments, and maintain robust error-monitoring systems.

Security & Compliance: Enforce security best practices across APIs and data pipelines (e.g., auth protocols, data encryption, OWASP guidelines).

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with product management, engineering leads, and DevOps to translate complex business requirements into clear technical specifications.

Required Skills & Qualifications (Must-Have)

Experience: 4 to 6 years of hands-on experience building, scaling, and maintaining complex backend software systems in production.

Core Stack: Advanced proficiency in Python and extensive production experience with Django (and Django REST Framework).

Object-Oriented Design & Patterns: Deep expertise in OOP, Clean Architecture, Domain-Driven Design (DDD), SOLID principles, and design patterns.

Database Engineering: Expert-level knowledge of SQL, schema design, index optimization, ORM tuning, and data caching mechanisms (Redis, Memcached).

Asynchronous Processing: Strong experience with asynchronous task queues, background workers, and message brokers (e.g., Celery, RabbitMQ, Apache Kafka).

API Architecture: Proven track record in designing, building, and documenting secure, versioned RESTful APIs or GraphQL endpoints.

Testing & Quality: Rigorous commitment to testing (unit, integration, load testing using pytest, locust, etc.) and CI/CD automation workflows.

Version Control: Mastery of Git, branching strategies, and collaborative code integration.

Preferred & Bonus Skills (Good-to-Have)

Cloud & Infrastructure: Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).

System Design & Scale: Experience migrating monolithic applications to microservices or event-driven architectures.

Observability: Experience setting up logging, metrics, and tracing tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, Sentry, OpenTelemetry).

Frontend Familiarity: Basic understanding of modern web frontend frameworks (e.g., React, Vue.js) for seamless full-stack collaboration.
