Job summary

Northern Trust Corp in Bengaluru seeks a Senior Associate Software Engineer to design and implement high-performance data solutions for trading apps and analytics platforms. The role emphasizes collaboration with Business Units and IT, platform transformation, and hands-on development across cloud and on-prem environments.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in large data warehousing projects, data warehouses, ETL/BI solutions.
• Strong experience with RDBMS, writing complex SQL and SQL optimization.
• Experience with data architectures including data lake/lakehouse and medallion architecture.
• Exposure to scheduling and batch orchestration tools like Control-M.
• Hands-on experience with Snowflake or Databricks, Python, and visualization tools like Power BI or Tableau.

Major Duties

• Consults with Business Unit and IT management and staff on all phases of the project development cycle.
• Helps to design major systems and their subsystems utilizing a solid understanding of available technology, tools and existing designs.
• Design and develop high-performance programming language components used by trading applications.
• Provide technical expertise to support and enhance core brokerage application.
• Operates independently; has in-depth knowledge of business unit / function as subject area expert, provides comprehensive, in-depth consulting and leadership to team and partners at a high technical level.
• Carries out activities that are large in scope, cross-functional and technically difficult.
• Role is balanced between high level operational execution and development, and execution of strategic direction of business function activities.
• Ensure code meets standards and tested appropriately in the platform.
• Be part of platform transformation journey and help in reengineering and improve the current set of applications.

Knowledge/Skills

• 5 Years of experience working in large data warehousing projects, implementing data warehouses, data marts, ETL, BI solutions etc.
• Understanding of star and snowflake schemas, building facts, dimensions, implementing SCD, various types of facts and dimensions etc.
• Familiarity with data architectures, data lake, data lakehouse, medallion architecture etc.
• Strong experience in data engineering, ETL/ELT
• Strong experience with RDBMS, writing complex SQL and SQL Optimization
• Working Experience in Snowflake or Databricks
• Working experience in Python.
• Experience with scheduling and batch orchestration tools like Control-M
• Exposure to Data Visualization tools like Power BI or Tableau
• Experience with cloud computing platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies
• Exposure to Gen and Agentic AI tools and solutions
