Job summary

SentinelOne in Bengaluru is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test to join our high-quality, self-hosted product team. You will own test strategy, build automation for API, services, and UI where needed, and partner with developers to ensure robust releases across cloud environments.

The role requires strong Python/TypeScript, experience with Selenium/Playwright, and CI pipelines. You will mentor peers and help scale testing as our CNAPP capabilities expand for AI workloads.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in test automation/automation development.
• Strong product thinking and ability to translate product behavior into test strategy.
• Hands-on experience building API and service-level test automation for distributed systems.
• Proficient in Python and TypeScript; Go is a plus.
• Experience with UI automation tools such as Selenium and Playwright.

Responsibilities

• Own the quality strategy for Cloud Security features and services across test coverage.
• Design, build, and maintain scalable automation frameworks and test infrastructure, with API/service validation focus.
• Validate accuracy of detection and policy engines, guarding against false positives/negatives.
• Design and run performance, scale, and resilience tests across regions.
• Collaborate with developers, product managers, and QA/automation engineers on test plans.
• Develop and maintain automated test suites, analyze failures, and drive resolution.
• Own validation from design through release, including plan, execution, triage, sign-off.
• Identify gaps in testability, observability, reliability, and release readiness.
• Extend quality coverage into Cloud AI Security for AI workloads.
• Improve CI signals, dashboards, and reporting for faster releases.
• Mentor engineers on automation best practices.

As a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test tasked to join our team and help us build a high-quality, reliable self-hosted product. The ideal candidate combines strong automation depth with solid product thinking — someone who understands how customers use the product, knows where quality risks hide, and can design the right test strategy to catch them early.

What will you do

Primary responsibilities include:

• Own the quality strategy for key Cloud Security features and services across functional, integration, and end-to-end test coverage.
• Design, build, and maintain scalable automation frameworks and test infrastructure, with a strong emphasis on API and service-level validation for distributed, high-throughput systems (and UI validation where applicable).
• Build testing approaches that validate the accuracy of our detection and policy engines — guarding against false positives and false negatives in the security findings we surface to customers.
• Design and run performance, scale, and resilience tests for services that evaluate hundreds of thousands of cloud resources and Kubernetes objects across multiple regions.
• Work closely with developers, product managers, and other QA / automation engineers to define test plans early and improve release confidence.
• Develop, execute, and continuously improve automated test suites for new and existing functionality, while analyzing failures, reporting issues clearly, and driving resolution with engineering.
• Own validation from feature design through release, including test planning, execution, triage, and sign-off.
• Raise the bar on product quality by identifying gaps in testability, observability, reliability, and release readiness.
• Help extend quality coverage into Cloud AI Security as our CNAPP capabilities expand to secure customers' AI workloads and infrastructure.
• Drive better quality processes, dashboards, reporting, and CI signals for faster and safer releases.
• Mentor other engineers on automation best practices, debugging, and quality engineering principles.

What Skills And Experience Should You Bring

Ideal candidates will have:

• 5+ years of experience in test automation / automation development.
• Strong product thinking with the ability to translate product behavior and customer workflows into effective test strategy.
• Strong hands‑on experience building API and service‑level test automation for complex, distributed systems and microservices.
• Strong proficiency in Python and TypeScript; experience with Go is a plus.
• Hands‑on experience with UI automation tools such as Selenium and Playwright where UI coverage is needed.
• Experience testing services that run on at least one public cloud (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and on Kubernetes (Docker).
• Experience debugging issues deeply and working closely with developers to drive fixes.
• Strong experience with Jenkins‑based CI pipelines and test execution workflows.
• Experience with Allure or similar test reporting / insights platforms.
• Solid understanding of automation architecture, test design, and maintainable framework development.
• Interest in performance and scale testing; you enjoy validating systems for correctness and efficiency under load.
• Strong problem‑solving, ownership, and self‑management skills; proactive, collaborative, and able to operate with high independence.
