Qualifications

• 10+ years of backend software development experience in an OO language (Java/Kotlin)
• Proven end-to-end ownership of services or components in a multi-service environment
• Strong understanding of software design principles, algorithms, and data structures
• Hands-on API design and consumption experience

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and evolve scalable services and data models for customer-facing and platform experiences
• Lead technical design across domains for multi-quarter initiatives in the 3PI supply system
• Own features end-to-end from design through deployment, monitoring, and production improvements
• Break down complex problems into reusable technical solutions across domains
• Write, review, and maintain high-quality, well-tested code with best practices in security, observability, and performance
• Mentor engineers and raise the engineering bar through knowledge sharing and reviews
• Partner with product, analytics, design, and engineering teams to apply data-driven decision making

In this role, you will:

• Design, build, and evolve scalable, reliable services and software components, including system design, low-level design, API design, and data modeling to support customer-facing and platform experiences.
• Lead the technical design across domains and delivery of complex, multi-quarter initiatives across the 3PI supply system that support shopping, booking, servicing, and claims journeys.
• Take end-to-end ownership of complex features or services, from technical design through implementation, deployment, monitoring, and iterative improvement in production.
• Break down large, ambiguous business problems into clear technical solutions that can be reused across multiple domains and services, driving streamlined execution by the team.
• Write, review, and maintain high-quality, well-tested code while driving best practices in code quality, security, observability, resilience, and performance.
• Improve technical quality and operational excellence by reducing incidents, enhancing observability, and optimizing performance, reliability, and cost.
• Safely integrate and operate AI/ML-enabled solutions that improve traveler and business outcomes, applying AI-driven systems, tools, and workflows to production-grade software.
• Mentor and guide other engineers, sharing best practices in software engineering, testing, and architecture, and raising the overall engineering bar for the team.
• Partner with product, analytics, design, and engineering teams to apply data-driven decision making, define success metrics, and improve system health and user outcomes over time.
• Contribute to architectural direction by participating in design reviews, proposing improvements, leading communities of practice, and helping shape long-term technical strategy.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field; or equivalent related professional experience.
• 10+ years of professional, post-college backend software development experience in an object-oriented language (e.g., Java, Kotlin, or similar).
• Proven experience owning end-to-end delivery for services or components - design, implementation, testing, deployment, and support - within a multi-service or multi-domain environment.
• Deep understanding of software design principles, algorithms, and data structures, with a strong command of core engineering practices including object-oriented design, testing, and version control.
