Job summary

Comviva is seeking a hands-on Java backend engineer with 3-5 years of experience to design, develop and maintain scalable microservices using Java 17/21 and Spring Boot 3.x in India. You will build secure REST APIs, work with Kafka, Redis, Docker and Kubernetes, and collaborate with Product, QA, DevOps, and Architecture teams to boost performance, reliability, and security.

The role involves testing, deployment support, and continuous improvement including framework upgrades and observability

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of hands-on Java backend development experience.
• Proficiency with Java 17/21 and Spring Boot 3.x.
• Strong REST API, microservices design, and Spring Security (OAuth2/JWT).
• Experience with Hibernate/JPA and PostgreSQL/MySQL.
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, AWS (EKS/RDS/S3/IAM), and CI/CD.

Job description

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable backend applications and microservices using Java and Spring Boot.


• Build secure and high-performance REST APIs and backend services.


• Participate in requirement analysis, technical discussions, solution design, and implementation.


• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following engineering best practices.


• Perform unit testing, integration testing, and support deployment activities.


• Troubleshoot application, database, and integration-related issues.


• Collaborate with Product, QA, DevOps, and Architecture teams to deliver high-quality solutions.


• Contribute to application performance optimization, monitoring, and operational stability.


• Support ongoing enhancements, framework upgrades, and security improvements.

Mandatory Skills

• 3-5 years of hands-on experience in Java backend development.


• Strong expertise in Java 17/21 and Spring Boot 3.x.


• Solid understanding of Spring Framework, Microservices Architecture, and REST APIs.


• Experience with Spring Security, OAuth2, and JWT.


• Hands-on experience with Hibernate/JPA and relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.


• Working knowledge of Kafka and Redis.


• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.


• Exposure to AWS services such as EKS, RDS, S3, and IAM.


• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar tools.


• Good understanding of software design principles, debugging, and problem-solving.

Desirable Skills

• Experience with API Gateway solutions such as Kong, KrakenD, or Apigee.


• Knowledge of observability and monitoring tools including OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or Loki.


• Exposure to RabbitMQ, Terraform, and Helm.


• Understanding of multithreading, concurrency, design patterns, and SOLID principles.


• Familiarity with application security concepts, OWASP standards, and code quality tools such as SonarQube, Fortify, or SCA.


• Experience in cloud-native or distributed systems environments.


• Exposure to Fintech, Payments, Transaction Processing, or Payment Gateway integrations.


• Knowledge of Active-Active/DR architectures and high-availability systems.


• Experience with Magento, Shopify, or WordPress plugin development will be an added advantage.


• Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
