Senior Scrum Master – Gurugram, India
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Scrum Master to act as a hands‑on agile leader, mentor, and performance coach within our Gurugram, India office. This role is a unique blend of deep team facilitation and agile community leadership. You will be embedded within some of our engineering development teams, guiding them to peak performance, while also serving as the local agile expert and mentor a Scrum Master Chapter.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead engineering teams as their dedicated Scrum Master, modelling advanced agile practices and fostering a culture of accountability and high performance.
- Empower the team to run their own team ceremonies by providing the necessary support, tools, and guidance. Acting as a supportive figure to ensure meetings become team‑led, productive, and value‑driven.
- Partner with Product Owners and tech leads to champion advanced backlog management, prioritization techniques, and goal setting that maximizes business value.
- Drive a relentless focus on continuous improvement, using data and metrics to help your teams become more predictable, efficient, and self‑sufficient.
- Act as a coach and mentor to a Scrum Master Chapter, providing guidance, support, and an escalation path for complex challenges.
- Lead a local Community of Practice for Scrum Masters to foster knowledge sharing, collaborative problem‑solving, and the standardisation of best practices.
- Partner with leadership by contributing to the performance evaluation of the Scrum Masters you mentor, providing constructive feedback to help them grow.
- Lead Large‑Scale Planning: Play a key role in the planning, organization, and facilitation of large‑scale planning events (e.g., Big Room Planning), ensuring all teams are aligned and committed to a shared set of objectives.
- Take a leading role in identifying, managing, and resolving complex, cross‑team dependencies and risks that impact delivery.
- Develop and manage relationships with senior stakeholders, acting as a trusted advisor on agile principles, delivery forecasting, and expectation management.
Your Qualifications
- Extensive Experience: Min 7 years of dedicated and proven experience as a Scrum Master or Agile Coach, with a clear track record of success in maturing teams and improving delivery outcomes.
- Hands‑On Practitioner: You are not a theorist. You have deep, practical, "in‑the‑trenches" experience with all facets of agile practices and are comfortable demonstrating 'how' as well as explaining 'why'.
- Advanced Agile Knowledge: You have a deep understanding of the principles behind Scrum, Kanban, and other agile methodologies, and you know when and how to apply them to get results.
- Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Professional Scrum Master (PSM), or equivalent certification is desirable.
- Experience in Large‑Scale Planning: Proven experience facilitating large, multi‑team planning events (like PI Planning, Big Room Planning) and driving them to successful outcomes.
- Proven Mentorship Ability: Demonstrable experience formally or informally coaching and mentoring other Scrum Masters or agile practitioners to help them grow their skills.
- Leadership Qualities: Experience in people leadership (direct or indirect) is highly preferred, including guiding career development, and contributing to performance feedback.
- Expert‑Level Facilitator: Mastery of facilitation, conflict resolution, and communication skills, with the ability to navigate complex organisational dynamics and manage senior stakeholders effectively.
