Job summary

Infosys in Bengaluru is looking for a senior Scala developer to lead end-to-end development of scalable services using Scala, Akka, and the Play Framework. You will design concurrent components, implement RESTful APIs, and own build and release pipelines with SBT.

The role requires 5–9 years of hands-on Scala experience, strong knowledge of reactive programming, and mentoring colleagues to improve code quality and engineering standards.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end development of Scala-based applications and services, ensuring performance, scalability, and maintainability.
• Design and implement concurrent and distributed components using Akka, including actors, routing, supervision, and fault-tolerance patterns.
• Build and enhance web services and APIs using Play Framework, following clean architecture and modular design principles.
• Own build, dependency, and release management using SBT; optimize build pipelines and enforce consistent project structure.
• Drive code quality through reviews, refactoring, and establishing engineering standards, patterns, and reusable components.
• Collaborate with product and technical stakeholders to refine requirements, estimate work, and deliver predictable outcomes.
• Mentor team members, provide technical guidance, and support troubleshooting of complex production issues.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs and service-layer patterns in Play Framework.
• Ability to improve developer productivity through SBT optimization, build standardization, and dependency/version governance.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers, influence best practices, and drive continuous improvement across the codebase.
