Job summary

EY India is seeking a Senior HCM Payroll Specialist to lead SAP HCM Payroll implementations, coordinate with HR, Finance, and IT, and ensure compliant, efficient payroll processing. The role requires strong SAP HCM expertise, leadership, and client-facing skills within a global services environment.

You will mentor junior payroll staff, collaborate on best practices, and drive payroll system enhancements across multiple countries with focus on PA/PM integration and payroll tax configurations.

Qualifications

• 3–8 years of SAP HCM experience including minimum 2 end‑to‑end payroll implementations
• Experience with Wage Type, Schema and PCR configuration
• Strong knowledge of PA/PM and time integration with payroll
• Experience with SuccessFactors is a plus
• Excellent business communication and leadership skills
• Exposure to tax configuration for multiple countries (US/UK/Canada/Australia/Dubai/NZ)
• BE/BTech/MCA degree and relevant industry experience

Responsibilities

• Lead SAP HCM Payroll implementation teams and supervise technical leaders
• Contribute to Business Blueprint workshops and finalize to‑be designs
• Deliver configuration, functional specs, unit and integration test scripts
• Interface with onsite coordinators and stakeholders
• Plan and monitor project deliverables and mentor junior staff
• Provide regular status updates to project management and clients
• Interact with customer representatives as needed and travel to client sites when required

The Opportunity

As a Senior HCM Payroll Specialist, you will be at the forefront of managing and optimizing our payroll processes within the Human Capital Management (HCM) framework. This role offers you the chance to lead payroll operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely processing of employee compensation. You will have the opportunity to work closely with HR, finance, and IT teams to enhance payroll systems and processes, implementing best practices that drive efficiency and effectiveness. Your expertise will be essential in addressing complex payroll issues, conducting audits, and ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements. In this position, you will also play a key role in mentoring and training junior payroll staff, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages knowledge sharing and professional development. Your Key Responsibilities

• Need to work as a team leader (technical leader) to contribute in SAP HCM Payroll implementation project.
• Lead teams in the business transformation / managed services track of SAP engagements.
• Conduct Business Blueprint requirement gathering workshops to gather business requirements and finalize to-be design.
• Deliver Business Blueprint, configuration, functional specifications, unit test scripts, integration test scripts as per business requirements.
• Interface and communicate with the onsite coordinators.
• Planning and monitoring of the project deliverables from the team.
• Mentor the project team in executing the identified projects.
• Regular status reporting to the Manager and onsite coordinators.
• Interface with the customer representatives as and when needed.
• Willing to travel to the customers locations on need basis.
• Responsible for decision‑making, optimizing processes, resource management, and overseeing team management as needed for task execution.
• Accountable for allocating personnel, supervising team members, assigning tasks, ensuring that the team has the necessary tools and support to succeed in their roles and optimizing and evaluating their performance to meet organizational goals.
