Kimbal seeks a Senior ABAP Consultant to join its in-house SAP team, supporting an S/4HANA Cloud landscape. The role blends production support with ongoing enhancements in a clean-core framework, partnering with business and functional teams.

Responsibilities include building extensions with ABAP Cloud (RAP), developing CDS views and APIs for Fiori, and managing transports the ALM system. Strong collaboration and problem-solving skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Extensive ABAP experience with 610+ years (as written) and 2+ years on S/4HANA Cloud or ABAP Cloud.
• Strong hands-on with RAP behavior definitions and implementations.
• Experience creating CDS views and Fiori Elements annotations.
• Knowledge of SAP API Business Hub and SAP BTP exposure.
• Experience with SAP Integration Suite (CPI) for non-SAP integrations.
• Familiarity with clean-core concepts and extensibility trade-offs.
• Hands-on with BAS or Eclipse-based ADT for cloud development.
• Experience with SAP Cloud ALM for transport/change management.

• On-call support for period-end and month-end business cycles.
• Manage transports/releases via Cloud ALM transport system.
• Monitor extensibility apps and CDS views/APIs for performance.

Role Description

We're looking for a Senior ABAP Consultant to join our in-house SAP team supporting an S/4HANA Cloud landscape. This is a long-term, in-house role not project-based consulting covering a balanced mix of production support and ongoing enhancement

work.

You will operate within a clean-core philosophy, building extensions the right way rather than touching standard objects, and you will be a key technical partner to business and

functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Enhancement / Development (70%): Design and build custom extensions using ABAP Cloud (RAP RESTful ABAP Programming Model).


• Develop CDS views, behavior definitions, and OData / SAP Graph APIs for Fiori and external consumption.


• Work within Key User Extensibility and Developer Extensibility frameworks as appropriate to the landscape edition.


• Build and maintain integrations (SAP Integration Suite / CPI, APIs) with non-SAP systems.


• Partner with functional consultants (MM, SD, FI/CO, etc.) to convert business requirements into extension-safe technical designs.


• Participate in release-cycle testing S/4HANA Cloud's quarterly updates require proactive regression testing of custom extensions.


• Contribute to the clean-core roadmap, flagging legacy custom code / modifications for remediation.


• Support (30%): Provide L2/L3 technical support for custom extensions, interfaces, and integrations.


• Perform root-cause analysis on production issues and implement permanent fixes within clean-core guardrails.


• Support critical business cycles (period-end, month-end) with on-call technical assistance.


• Manage transports and releases through the Cloud ALM / transport management system.


• Monitor and troubleshoot extensibility apps and custom CDS views / APIs for performance issues.

Job Requirements

• 610+ years of ABAP experience, with at least 2+ years specifically on S/4HANA Cloud or ABAP Cloud.


• Strong hands‑on experience with RAP (RESTful ABAP Programming Model) behavior definitions, behavior implementations, and projections.


• CDS Views (including annotations for Fiori Elements) and the ABAP Cloud development model with released APIs/BAPIs (vs. classic unrestricted ABAP).


• Data services / SAP API Business Hub consumption, and SAP BTP exposure (as most S/4HANA Cloud extensions increasingly live there).


• SAP Integration Suite (CPI) for integration scenarios.


• Understanding of clean‑core principles and side‑by‑side vs. in‑app extensibility trade‑offs.


• Experience with SAP Business Application Studio (BAS) and/or Eclipse‑based ADT for cloud development.


• Familiarity with SAP Cloud ALM or equivalent for transport / change management in cloud landscapes.


• Working knowledge of at least one functional module's data flow (MM / SD / FI preferred).


• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; SAP certification in ABAP for S/4HANA or ABAP Cloud is a plus.


• Prior in‑house / end‑user experience (vs. only SI / consulting background) strongly preferred.


• Good to have: Fiori / UI5 front‑end exposure (understanding the consumption side), prior experience with an S/4HANA Cloud version upgrade cycle, and exposure to Agile / Scrum delivery (Jira-based backlog, sprint‑based enhancement requests).


• Soft skills: comfortable with long‑term ownership of a live production system; able to push back constructively on requests that would break clean‑core principles and propose compliant alternatives; strong stakeholder management with business users and functional teams; and documentation discipline around custom extensions and their business justification.
