Qualifications

• Experience: 5–8 years of SAP ABAP development, with at least 2 years in S/4HANA.

• Hands-on SAP BTP knowledge and capability to build side-by-side extensions.
• Exposure to AI features or LLM integration via BTP or ABAP.
• Proficiency in Fiori/UI5 backend development and SAP integrations.

To support this mission, Syngenta s Enterprise Application Team is seeking a Senior SAP ABAP BTP Developer in Pune.

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior SAP ABAP Developer with strong hands‑on experience in SAP S/4HANA and SAP BTP with some exposure to AI-based solutions to join our technology team. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in our digital transformation journey, focusing on developing clean-core compliant extensions, leveraging modern ABAP practices (RAP/CDS), and implementing side‑by‑side extensions on the SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) and integrating Generative AI, Machine Learning and Intelligent Technologies directly into business processes.

Accountabilities

• Clean Core Development: Design and develop custom solutions that strictly adhere to SAP Clean Core principles, prioritizing upgrade-stable extensions over traditional modifications.


• S/4HANA Development: Build advanced, optimized artifacts in S/4HANA environments, including CDS Views, OData Services (V2/V4), AMDP (ABAP Managed Database Procedures), and AMDP.


• BTP Side-by-Side Extensions: Develop cloud-native apps and extensions on SAP BTP using the RESTful ABAP Programming Model (RAP), CAP, or Node. js.


• Modernization: Modernize legacy ABAP code and migrate existing modifications to Clean Core-compliant extensions (In-App or Side-by-Side).


• Fiori/UI5: Develop and enhance Fiori apps using Fiori Elements or Freestyle techniques to provide a modern user experience.


• AI Intelligent Solution Integration: Design and implement intelligent applications using AI based technologies within and outside SAP. Embed Machine Learning Models and automated decisioning into S/4 Hana and BTP workflows


• Integration: Implement integrations between S/4HANA and external systems using OData, REST APIs, Event Mesh, and SAP Integration Suite (CPI).


• Development Enhancement: Design, develop, test, and deploy RICEFW (Reports, Interfaces, Conversions, Enhancements, Forms, and Workflows) objects


• using ABAP programming language within the S/4HANA environment in cross functional areas


• Collaboration: Work closely with Functional Consultants, Business Analysts, and key stakeholders to gather requirements, translate them into technical specifications, and deliver solutions that meet business needs


• Documentation Standards: Create and maintain technical design documentation, ensuring all development adheres to best practices, coding standards, and project methodologies


• Innovation: Stay up-to-date with the latest SAP technologies and trends, proactively recommending innovative solutions to improve system functionality and efficiency.


• Quality Assurance: Use ATC (ABAP Test Cockpit) and Code Inspector to ensure code quality and compliance with SAP standards.


• Collaboration: Work closely with functional consultants and business users to translate requirements into technical specifications. Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Clean Core Mindset: Proven ability to implement \" Experience: 5 to 8 years of intense SAP ABAP development experience, including at least 2 years in S/4HANA projects.


• S/4HANA Skills: Strong expertise in OO-ABAP, CDS Views, AMDP, and RAP (Restful ABAP Programming Model).


• BTP Knowledge: Hands‑on experience with SAP BTP (Extension Suite, Business Application Studio, Cloud Foundry, or Kyma).


• SAP AI Exposure: Hands on exposure to implement SAP Business AI features or integrating third party AI LLM s / API s into SAP processes via BTP or ABAP


• Clean Core\" concepts-extending standard functionality without modifying SAP standard code.


• Fiori: Proficiency in SAP Fiori/UI5 backend development.


• Optional/Good to Have: Experience with SAP Integration Suite (CPI), Event Mesh, or CAP (Cloud Application Programming).

Desired Qualifications

• Bachelor s/Master s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.


• SAP Certification in S/4HANA Extension, BTP, or Development is preferred.
