Job summary

Travelex in Mumbai is seeking a Finance Reconciliation Specialist to investigate, resolve and escalate variances across bank, cash in transit, control and accounts receivable reconciliations.

You will work with internal and external stakeholders, including banks, and support month-end close, journal postings and ledger accuracy in a global finance environment.

Qualifications

• B.com /PG/MBA with good understanding of accounting and reconciliations.
• Experience in fast-paced/global finance with shared services.
• 3-6 years in a similar financial environment.
• Ability to communicate with internal/external stakeholders.
• Experience in financial services/banking, basic bookkeeping.
• Capable of meeting tight deadlines and delivering accuracy.
• Proven variance resolution experience.

Responsibilities

• Investigate, resolve and escalate variances in reconciliations (bank, cash in-transit, control, AR).
• Raise queries with banks, financial institutions, vaults, and IT for resolution.
• Support month-end close, journal postings, and GL output preparation.
• Maintain relationships with stakeholders to improve investigation/resolution process.
• Provide information for audits and suggest productivity improvements.

Job description

• The job holder will be responsible for investigating, resolving and escalating any variances in the reconciliations bank, cash in-transit, control and accounts receivable reconciliations
• Raise query with Bank, Financial institution, Vault, Thirdline, third party, MDM and IT Team for resolution
• They will use their knowledge of business and Travelex processes to resolve variances through contacting internal and external stakeholders including Banks and complete relevant General Ledger Output
• The role will report into the reconciliations lead
• Month end close and journal posting and Blackline reconciliation preparation

Key Accountabilities:

• Keeping track of all payments, and expenditure, including expenses, purchases orders, invoices, statement etc.
• Perform day-to day transactions, including verifying, classifying, and recording accounts payable data.
• Ensure reconciliations and payments are performed timely and as per SOP. Reconcile the accounts payable Ledger to ensure all bills and payments are accounted for and properly posted during month end.
• Follow the L&D roadmap for finance. Ensure month and quarter end tasks are performed in time and accurately.
• Highlight outstanding matters for resolution SOP change management, after due approvals are obtained.
• Follow direction from managers on need for resolution of aged and high value items. Attend and be active at weekly/monthly operational meetings.
• Be a part of transitions and ensure that all SOP and observe/perform activities are completed as per plan.
• Follow agreed escalation matrix for operational issues.

Experience and Skillsets required:

• B.com /PG/MBA with good understand of accounting and reconciliations
• Experience of working in fast paced / Global finance department. Prior experience working in shared service environment with an on/offshore presence is preferred.
• 3-6 years of work experience in a similar environment.
• Able to demonstrate proven experience at this level within a similar financial environment
• Ability to communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders
• Experience of financial services/banking with an understanding of basic bookkeeping
