Job summary

Responsive is seeking a Senior Quality Engineer to shape quality across our web applications. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive quality in every stage of the SDLC and prevent defects with proactive testing strategies.

You will design automated frameworks for Web and API testing, using Playwright and Karate, and own end-to-end quality for features, including performance and security validations. Strong automation and leadership are essential.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of experience in Software Quality Engineering with strong automation expertise.
• Proven ability to design scalable, risk-based test strategies.
• Experience delivering quality in SaaS or B2B products is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead quality strategy across all stages of the SDLC, from requirements to release.
• Design scalable, maintainable test strategies aligned with product goals.
• Develop and maintain automated test frameworks for Web and API apps using Playwright and Karate.
• Own end-to-end quality for features: functional, integration, regression, performance, security.
• Define and implement CI/CD quality gates and integrate tests into pipelines.
• Mentor junior QEs and promote best practices in test design and automation.
• Drive root cause analysis for production issues and implement preventive measures.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Product, DevOps, and UX to ensure high-quality releases.
• Track quality metrics and present insights to stakeholders.
• Continuously improve testing frameworks, tools, and processes.

About The Role

As a Senior Quality Engineer, you will be at the forefront of ensuring the delivery of high-quality, robust, and scalable web applications. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, drive quality across the SDLC, and help prevent defects with early detection strategies. Your role is critical in shaping a culture of quality and continuous improvement throughout the organization.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field

Experience

5–7 years of experience in Software Quality Engineering, including strong automation expertise.

What you will be doing

• Lead quality strategy across all stages of the SDLC — from requirement analysis to production release and post-release validation.


• Design scalable, maintainable, and risk-based test strategies aligned with business and product goals.


• Develop and maintain robust automated test frameworks for Web and API applications using Playwright and Karate.


• Own end-to-end quality for features, including functional, integration, regression, performance, and security validation.


• Define and implement CI/CD quality gates and integrate automated suites into pipelines.


• Mentor junior QEs and drive best practices in test design, automation, and defect management.


• Drive root cause analysis for production issues and implement preventive quality measures.


• Collaborate with Engineering, Product, DevOps, and UX teams to ensure high-quality releases.


• Establish and track quality metrics (Defect Leakage, Automation Coverage etc.) and present insights to stakeholders.


• Continuously improve testing frameworks, tools, and processes to enhance speed, reliability, and scalability.

What We’re Looking For

Skills, Qualifications & Ability

• Strong hands-on experience in UI automation, API testing, performance testing, and quality engineering.


• Expertise in building and maintaining scalable test automation frameworks.


• Proficiency with Playwright, Karate, JMeter, Postman, and similar testing tools.


• Strong programming skills in TypeScript, JavaScript, or Python.


• Experience with BDD frameworks and best practices.


• Hands-on experience integrating automation with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar).


• Experience working in Agile environments and cloud-based testing.


• Understanding of AI concepts, AI-powered applications, AI testing, evaluation methodologies, and RAG fundamentals.


• Experience using AI-assisted engineering tools such as Cursor AI, GitHub Copilot, or similar.


• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.


• Experience with SaaS or B2B products is an added advantage.
