Job summary

TripGain in Bengaluru is seeking a Senior Python Engineer to own core components of our Travel & Expense Platform. You will work on services that search and book flights, hotels, and ground travel, and you will process expense receipts and invoices with tight API contracts and reliable third‑party integrations.

You’ll ship LLM‑backed features to production, design around model limitations, and contribute to code quality through testing and thorough documentation.

Qualifications

• Python backend depth (5+ years).
• Strong Python, ideally with FastAPI; async programming you genuinely understand.
• Designed and maintained APIs that other teams or customers depend on.
• Solid relational database skills and production data handling.
• Experience wiring up third‑party APIs and turning them into reliable code.
• Background jobs, caching, queues, webhooks and AI/LLM work.

Senior Python Engineer Travel & Expense Platform

Company: TripGain • Location: Bangalore • Experience: 5–8 years

About the work

We build corporate travel and expense software, plus a booking platform used by travel agencies. You'd be working on services that search and book flights, hotels and ground travel, process expense receipts and invoices, integrate with airline and supplier systems, and increasingly, on AI assistants that do this work on a user's behalf.

You'll own features end to end — from design through production — rather than picking up pre-specified tickets.

What we're looking for

Python backend depth (5+ years)

Strong Python, ideally with FastAPI; async programming you genuinely understand, not just async def on everything

You've designed and maintained APIs that other teams or customers depend on

Databases

Solid relational database skills — schema design, query performance, and a careful hand with production data and schema changes

Integration

Real experience wiring up third‑party APIs that are inconsistent, poorly documented or legacy, and turning them into something clean your own code can rely on

Background jobs, caching, queues, webhooks

AI / LLM work

You've shipped an LLM‑backed feature to production with real users — not a prototype

You understand where these models are unreliable and how to design around it: validation, fallbacks, confidence handling, cost and latency control

Craft

You test what matters, document what you build, and verify your own work before calling it done

You're comfortable with AI coding tools and review their output as carefully as a colleague's

Nice to have

Travel or fintech domain experience

Multi‑tenant SaaS

Analytics or data‑heavy systems

Enough frontend to build an internal admin screen

Vector search / RAG, agent frameworks, MCP
