ULTISOURCE is seeking a Senior Python Backend Engineer for its health care product platform. You will architect and maintain microservices, design low-latency APIs, and tackle distributed systems challenges to support enterprise-scale digital solutions.

The role focuses on building out resilient backend infrastructure, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and mentoring engineers. Hybrid work model with on-site Hyderabad, India location.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of production Python development with asynchronous programming experience.
• Hands-on with distributed systems, consensus, and eventual consistency trade-offs.
• Experience building event-driven systems with Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Relational DBs and caching: PostgreSQL, Redis, etc.
• API contracts using OpenAPI/Swagger or Protobuf/gRPC.
• Cloud deployment of containerized services (Docker/Kubernetes) on AWS/GCP/Azure.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy decoupled microservices in Python (FastAPI, asyncio, or gRPC).
• Implement distributed patterns to ensure high availability and data integrity.
• Define, build, and document RESTful and gRPC APIs with contract testing.
• Design data models across PostgreSQL and distributed stores (Kafka, Redis).
• Profile performance and ensure zero-downtime deployments.
• Mentor junior engineers on backend architecture best practices.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced, deeply technical Senior Python Backend Engineer to design, scale, and maintain mission-critical backend infrastructure. In this role, you will architect resilient microservices, design low-latency APIs, and solve complex distributed systems challenges (concurrency, data consistency, partitioning, and fault tolerance).

You will work on systems where throughput, reliability, and clean domain design directly impact business performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Architecture & Service Design: Design, build, and deploy decoupled microservices using Python (FastAPI, asyncio, or gRPC) capable of handling high throughput with minimal latency.
• Distributed Systems Engineering: Implement distributed patterns (event sourcing, CQRS, saga patterns, leader election, circuit breakers) to ensure high availability and data integrity across distributed data stores.
• API Development: Define, build, and document robust RESTful and gRPC APIs with strict contract testing, schema validation, and rate-limiting.
• Data Storage & Streaming: Design and optimize data models across relational databases (PostgreSQL) and distributed caching/streaming platforms (Kafka, RabbitMQ, Redis).
• Performance & Reliability: Profile CPU/memory bottlenecks, optimize database queries/connection pooling, and ensure zero-downtime deployments.
• Technical Mentorship: Lead code reviews, enforce engineering standards, and mentor junior and mid-level engineers on backend architecture best practices.

Required Technical Qualifications

• Python Mastery: 5+ years of production Python development with deep familiarity in asynchronous programming (asyncio), concurrency paradigms (multiprocessing, threading), and modern frameworks (FastAPI, modern Django/Flask, or Sanic).
• Distributed Systems Fundamentals: Hands-on experience solving distributed consensus, distributed locking, idempotent message handling, and eventual consistency trade-offs (CAP theorem in practice).
• Messaging & Event-Driven Architecture: Proven track record building event-driven systems using Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ, AWS SQS/SNS, or similar event brokers.
• Data Persistence & Caching:
  • Advanced relational database experience (PostgreSQL, MySQL) including query planning, indexing strategies, transaction isolation levels, and migration management.
  • Deep experience with caching layers (Redis, Memcached) and distributed data stores (Cassandra, DynamoDB, or Elasticsearch).
• API Standards: Strong experience designing API contracts using OpenAPI/Swagger or Protocol Buffers/gRPC, adhering to secure authentication/authorization protocols (OAuth2, OIDC, JWT).
• Cloud & Infrastructure: Familiarity deploying containerized services (Docker, Kubernetes) on AWS, GCP, or Azure with automated CI/CD pipelines.
