Job summary

UnitedHealth Group in Bengaluru seeks a senior product leader to own the data platform strategy, partnering with Engineering and Analytics to deliver scalable data capabilities.

You will drive discovery, define outcomes, ensure data quality and compliance, and translate complex data topics for cross-functional teams, shaping the future of health data platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field.
• 11+ years of overall industry experience in software development and relevant domains.
• 8+ years in data governance/data management, including implementing or operating a governance program.
• Experience with US healthcare data or regulated data environments and understanding of healthcare regulations.
• Experience with cloud data platforms (e.g., Snowflake) and integrating governance into agile delivery.
• Knowledge of Data Mesh concepts (data as a product, domain ownership, federated governance).
• Working knowledge of data governance fundamentals (quality, metadata/lineage, stewardship).
• Proven cross-functional influence and communication across Product, Engineering, Analytics, Privacy/Security.

Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end product strategy and roadmap for data platform capabilities.
• Lead continuous product discovery to identify high-impact problems and validate assumptions.
• Partner with Engineering, Architecture, Data Governance, and Analytics to deliver platform capabilities.
• Define and track product outcomes, OKRs, and reassess strategy based on evidence and learning.
• Translate complex data concepts into clear product intent for cross-functional teams.
• Embed data quality, security, privacy, and compliance by design.
• Maintain a prioritized backlog balancing near-term delivery with long-term evolution.
• Act as a trusted partner to stakeholders across Network and Data domains.
• Communicate strategy, progress, risks, and outcomes to leadership and stakeholders.
• Support enablement and adoption of new platform capabilities through documentation and training.
• Comply with terms and company policies and directives.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Own the end-to-end product strategy and roadmap for data platform capabilities, grounded in customer needs, enterprise reuse, and long-term platform scalability
• Lead continuous product discovery to identify high-impact problems, validate assumptions, and define outcome-oriented opportunities before delivery
• Partner closely with Engineering, Architecture, Data Governance, and Analytics to deliver platform capabilities that treat data as a product with clear consumers, quality standards, and success measures
• Define and track product outcomes, success metrics, and Objectives and Key Results (OKRs); reassess strategy and priorities based on evidence and learning
• Translate complex technical and data concepts into clear product intent, trade-offs, and priorities for cross-functional teams
• Ensure data quality, security, privacy, and compliance requirements are embedded into platform capabilities by design
• Maintain a prioritized and continuously refined backlog balancing near-term delivery with long-term platform evolution
• Act as a trusted partner to stakeholders across Network and Data domains by setting expectations and aligning priorities
• Communicate product strategy, progress, risks, and outcomes effectively to leadership and stakeholders
• Support internal enablement and adoption of new platform capabilities through documentation and training

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in a related field
• 11+ years of overall industry experience in software development and relevant domains
• 8+ years in data governance/data management, including implementing or operating a governance program
• Experience with US healthcare data or regulated data environments - e.g., experience ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations like HIPAA, US state privacy laws, and understanding of US healthcare data standards
• Experience working with enterprise data offices and hub-and-spoke governance models
• Experience with cloud data platforms (e.g., Snowflake) and integrating governance into agile delivery
• Knowledge of Data Mesh concepts (data as a product, domain ownership, federated governance)
• Working knowledge of data governance fundamentals (quality, metadata/lineage, stewardship) and how to embed them in delivery
• Familiarity with modern data platforms and governance/quality tools; comfortable working with data models and queries
• Proven solid cross-functional influence and communication skills (Product, Engineering, Analytics, Privacy/Security)
