Job summary

Fashion & Retail Personnel in India is seeking a womenswear product developer with strong hands-on experience to own development from concept to production for UK/European markets, while based in the Indian fashion office. You will work with design, buying, sourcing and manufacturing teams to deliver fashion, fit and cost effective product.

The role requires translating trends into compelling product, managing supplier relationships across regions, and leading multiple development programs

Qualifications

• Experience in UK/European fashion market and paying attention to fashion customer
• Strong knowledge of garment construction, fabrics, finishes and manufacturing processes
• Experience taking product from concept through bulk production
• Strong supplier and factory management experience

An exciting opportunity to bring international product expertise to a fast-growing Indian business, who are looking for an experienced womenswear product developer based in the UK or Europe to join a leading Indian fashion office and help shape the next generation of womenswear product.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who understands the UK and European fashion customer, has strong product development expertise and wants to play a key role in building commercially successful womenswear.

You’ll work closely with Design, Buying, Sourcing, Technical and Manufacturing teams in India, bringing your international experience and product perspective to the business.

The Role

As womenswear product developer, you will take ownership of product development from initial concept through to final production, ensuring collections deliver the right balance of fashion, quality, fit, cost and commercial appeal.

You will:

• Develop womenswear collections across relevant product categories, from initial concept through to production.
• Work closely with Design and Buying to translate trends, customer insights and commercial direction into compelling product.
• Provide a strong UK / European market perspective, identifying emerging trends, silhouettes, fabrics, colours and commercial opportunities.
• Work closely with Indian and international suppliers and factories to develop product to the required quality, cost and delivery standards.
• Review samples, provide clear feedback and drive products through multiple development stages.
• Work closely with Technical teams on fit, construction, quality and garment performance.
• Identify opportunities to improve product quality, construction and cost without compromising the design vision.
• Manage multiple product categories and development programmes simultaneously.
• Build strong working relationships across Design, Buying, Sourcing, Merchandising and Manufacturing.

What We're Looking For

We’re looking for someone with strong hands-on womenswear product development experience, ideally gained within a leading UK or European fashion retailer, brand or sourcing organisation.

You’ll ideally have:

• Strong understanding of the UK / European womenswear market and customer.
• Excellent knowledge of garment construction, fabrics, finishes and manufacturing processes.
• Experience taking product from concept through to bulk production.
• Strong supplier and factory management experience.
• A strong commercial instinct and understanding of what makes product successful at retail.
• Excellent organisational and project management skills.
• The confidence to work collaboratively with senior stakeholders while challenging decisions where appropriate.
• A willingness to relocate to India and immerse yourself in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial retail environment.
