Job summary

Without is building one of India's first commercial-scale recycled material plants, turning post-consumer plastic waste into high-performance recycled PTA, polyolefins, and specialty compounds.

This greenfield opportunity seeks a Senior Process Engineer to take a process from simulation to PFD to construction redlines and a running plant, across FEED, detailed engineering, and startup phases.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering; Master's degree is a bonus, not a filter.
• 3–6 years of hands-on process/chemical engineering experience with at least one greenfield project.
• Proficiency in process simulation software: Aspen Plus, HYSYS, or similar.
• Solid understanding of HAZOP, LOPA, SIL and inherently safer design.
• Familiar with ASME, API, ISA codes and EPC coordination.
• PE license or EIT certification preferred, not mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Process Design & Engineering: develop PFDs, P&IDs, mass/energy balances, and equipment sizing.
• FEED & Detailed Engineering: drive design through EPC coordination with contractors.
• Process Simulation: build/validate models; optimize parameters before fabrication.
• Equipment Specification: prepare specs/datasheets for reactors, columns, heat exchangers.
• Process Safety: participate in HAZOP, PHA, LOPA, and SIL studies.
• Regulatory & Permitting: support environmental permits compliant with OSHA, EPA, PSM.
• Vendor Coordination: review proposals, evaluate bids, check drawings for suitability.
• Construction Support: field presence during construction; resolve issues and review redlines.
• Commissioning & Startup: develop procedures; support checks and plant startup.
• Cross-Functional Coordination: work with PM, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, civil, EHS.
• Documentation: maintain process design docs and calculations for handover.

Without® is building one of India's first commercial-scale recycled materials plants — from the ground up. We turn post-consumer plastic waste into high-performance recycled PTA, polyolefins, and specialty compounds that replace virgin material in everything from automotive parts to planter pots.

This isn't a maintenance gig at an existing facility. This is greenfield: blank land, fresh concrete, first-of-its-kind process design. We need a Senior Process Engineer who can take a process from simulation to PFD to construction redlines to a plant that actually runs — and who gets excited by the fact that the plant doesn't exist yet.

You'll work across every phase: FEED, detailed engineering, equipment spec, HAZOP, construction support, commissioning, and startup. If you've only ever optimised existing units, this will stretch you. If you've built something from scratch before, you know exactly why this matters.

Requirements

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• A Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering (Master's is a bonus, not a filter).
  
• 3–6 years of hands-on process or chemical engineering experience — ideally with at least one greenfield or grassroots capital project on your CV.
  
• Real proficiency in process simulation software: Aspen Plus, HYSYS, or similar. "I've opened it once" doesn't count.
  
• A solid understanding of process safety methodologies — HAZOP, LOPA, SIL — and a genuine respect for inherently safer design.
  
• Familiarity with the codes that govern this world: ASME, API, ISA.
  
• Experience coordinating with EPC contractors and multidisciplinary teams. You know what it takes to get mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, civil, and EHS teams aligned on one design.
  
• A PE licence or EIT certification is preferred, not mandatory.
  

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Process Design & Engineering — Develop and review PFDs, P&IDs, mass and energy balances, and equipment sizing for new process units. This is the backbone — get it right and everything downstream follows.
  
• FEED & Detailed Engineering — Drive front-end engineering design through to detailed engineering. Coordinate directly with EPC contractors and engineering firms.
  
• Process Simulation — Build and validate process models in Aspen Plus, HYSYS, or equivalent. Optimise design parameters before steel gets cut.
  
• Equipment Specification — Prepare technical specs and datasheets for reactors, columns, heat exchangers, pumps, and other process equipment. Vendor-ready, no ambiguity.
  
• Process Safety — Participate in HAZOP, PHA, LOPA, and SIL studies. Champion inherently safer design principles throughout.
  
• Regulatory & Permitting — Provide technical input for environmental permits (air, water, waste) and ensure designs comply with OSHA, EPA, and PSM requirements.
  
• Vendor Coordination — Review vendor proposals, run technical bid evaluations, and check equipment drawings for process suitability.
  
• Construction Support — Be on the ground during construction. Resolve field design issues and review redlines and as-builts.
  
• Commissioning & Startup — Develop commissioning procedures, support pre-commissioning checks, and participate in plant startup and performance testing. This is where everything you've designed becomes real.
  
• Cross-Functional Coordination — Work hand-in-hand with project management, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, civil, and EHS teams across every project phase.
  
• Documentation — Maintain accurate process design documentation, calculations, and technical files for clean handover to operations.
  

YOUR COMPENSATION

• An annual Cost-to-Company (CTC) between INR 8-10 lakhs.
  
• Stock Options (ESOPS) in the legal entity that vests over an agreed-to tenure.
  
• A 3-month mutual incubation period. Both you and we will have the option to end the agreement after three months if it isn’t working out.
