Job summary

EG is seeking a highly experienced Senior Platform Engineer – Azure to own and evolve the Azure-based control plane that powers centralized AI capabilities across EG. This role will lead architecture decisions, establish engineering standards, and ensure operational excellence across critical Azure services.

• Implement security, observability, and operational best practices.
• Drive high availability, disaster recovery, and cost management for the platform.
• Mentor engineers and align with cross-cloud platform teams.

About The Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Platform Engineer – Azure to own and evolve the Azure-based control plane that powers centralized AI capabilities across EG. This role will lead the design, deployment, and operation of scalable, secure, and resilient AI infrastructure supporting Azure-based Business Units, including Retail, Utility, LEX, and InfoDoc. As a senior platform engineer, you will drive architecture decisions, establish engineering standards, and ensure operational excellence across critical Azure services. You will collaborate closely with platform teams across cloud environments to deliver a consistent, secure, and scalable AI platform experience. You will cooperate with SDK Engineers to incorporate Azure-specific functionality into the AI Platform we are building.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture, deployment, and operation of Azure-hosted AI platform services.
• Own the Azure control plane supporting centralized AI capabilities and integrations.
• Design and manage cloud-native solutions leveraging:
  • Azure API Management (APIM) and Policy Expressions
  • Azure OpenAI and Claude integrations
  • Azure Durable Functions
  • Azure AI Search
  • Cosmos DB
  • Azure Content Safety
  • Microsoft Presidio
  • Establish Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) standards using Bicep and/or Terraform.
• Implement security, compliance, observability, and operational best practices across the platform.
• Drive high availability, performance optimization, disaster recovery, and cost management initiatives.
• Partner with engineering teams and Business Units to ensure successful adoption of platform capabilities.
• Lead incident response, production support, and on-call operations for critical platform services.
• Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership across Azure platform initiatives.
• Collaborate with cross-cloud platform teams to maintain architectural alignment and shared engineering standards

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline.
• Extensive experience designing and operating large-scale Azure environments.
• Strong understanding of cloud-native architectures, distributed systems, and event-driven design patterns.
• Experience with monitoring, logging, tracing, and observability platforms.
• Strong knowledge of cloud security, governance, identity, and compliance best practices.
• Experience supporting mission-critical production environments with strong operational ownership.
