Job summary

EG is seeking a Senior Data Scientist for its COE team in Mangaluru. You will design and deliver end-to-end AI architectures, build GenAI solutions, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deploy models at scale.

You will work with OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, LangChain, and RAG frameworks, applying best practices for governance and responsible AI. This role emphasizes mentoring and upskilling across business units.

Join a high-impact AI COE team at the front-line of innovation, where we don’t just build models - we shape AI-powered digital transformation across business domains. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex, cutting-edge problems in Agentic AI, GenAI, traditional ML, and advanced analytics - using the latest tools and cloud technologies to build real-world solutions deployed at scale.

As a Senior Data Scientist, you’ll be part of a core team that's designing and delivering end-to-end AI architectures and solutions across diverse business units and domains. Your work will directly influence products that span multiple industries, and you’ll have the autonomy to bring your innovations to life, while collaborating with exceptional minds in the field.

Responsibilities

The AI COE operates as a centralized AI strategy and execution team, supporting multiple business units across the organization. With a dedicated team of AI/ML experts, data engineers, and architects, we are responsible for:

• Designing scalable AI architectures (Traditional, GenAI, and Agentic AI).
• Building AI use cases deployed across hybrid environments - including on-premises infrastructure, Azure, and AWS cloud ecosystems.
• Enabling business units to adopt and maintain AI solutions.
• Performing feasibility studies and defining technology roadmaps for AI initiatives.
• Supporting integration of AI accelerators into existing business applications.

We collaborate closely with Business Unit teams across domains and geographies, enabling long-term value creation through AI.

Your Workday, Your Tasks And Mandatory Skill Set

• Engage with product/business teams to understand high-level requirements and translate them into concrete AI/ML solutions
• Lead feasibility analysis, design solution architecture, and provide technical estimation and resource planning.
• Develop, train, and evaluate AI/ML and GenAI models for varied business use cases.
• Build and deploy end-to-end data pipelines and AI solutions on Azure/AWS using PaaS/IaaS services.
• Collaborate with developers, engineers, and business SMEs to operationalize models into production.
• Leverage technologies such as OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, LangChain, RAG frameworks, and Vector DBs.
• Evangelize AI best practices, drive adoption of emerging AI technologies, and act as a thought leader within the COE and across Business Units.
• Conduct internal trainings, hands-on sessions, and mentoring workshops to upskill Business Unit teams and junior data scientists.
• Guide Business Unit teams in transitioning AI projects to their product stack and support future enhancements.
• Document best practices, mentor junior team members, and ensure governance and responsible AI practices.

Required Skills

• Bachelor's in computer science and engineering or related discipline. An advanced degree (e.g., MS / MTech.) is preferred but not required, Experience is the most relevant factor.
• 5+ years of experience in AI/ML with last 2 years in GenAI, LLMs, RAG, embeddings, prompt engineering, agent orchestration, MCP, A2A.
• Strong programming skills in Python and experience in product development on large-scale AI platforms.
• Proven experience in ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras), NLP, and applied AI.
• Full-stack engineering exposure – Angular/React/NodeJS/Streamlit with backend in Python and SQL/NoSQL databases.
• Experience in building scalable applications using Azure and AWS cloud-native services.
• Sound understanding of OOP/OOD, data structures, design patterns, and diagrams (UML, ER, DFD).
• Familiarity with Agile/Lean/XP/DevSecOps, GitHub Actions, SonarQube and CI/CD pipelines.
• Exposure to visualization tools, dashboarding (Power BI, Streamlit, etc.)
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and team collaboration skills.
