Job summary

Burns & McDonnell India is seeking an experienced Piping Designer to grow within the Global Facilities unit, supporting onsite utility and manufacturing projects from Mumbai. You will develop piping layouts, isometrics, and 3D models using Revit or Plant 3D, and ensure compliance with ASME BPE, B31.3, and B16.1 standards.

The role requires diploma in mechanical engineering or graduation in non-engineering with piping design training; strong CAD/3D skills; ability to read P&IDs and drawings; and

Qualifications

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or graduation with piping design training.
• Strong CAD/3D modelling skills in REVIT or Plant 3D.
• Ability to read P&IDs and piping drawings and interpret specifications.

Responsibilities

• Develop and revise 3D piping design models using Revit or Plant 3D.

• Collaborate with project engineers to meet specifications.

The “Global Facilities” (GFS) business unit handles engineering of facilities in the North America region which includes food & beverage facilities, consumer product facilities, aerospace facilities, life sciences facilities, hyper scale datacenters, commercial facilities, healthcare facilities and utility plants. The Mumbai office has a full complement of professionals with expertise in architecture, civil, electrical, control & automation, fire protection, mechanical, structural engineering, and project management and will support Bangalore team to stand up in executing Future Projects.

The successful candidate will report to Lead Engineer - Onsite. He will be involved in developing piping layout and producing high quality construction level documents for piping on various projects including for Onsite utility advanced manufacturing facilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and revise 3D piping design models using Autodesk Revit or Plant 3D Software.
• Good understanding of piping codes & standards like ASME Bioprocessing Equipment Standard [BPE], ASME B16.1 and ASME B31.3.
• Collaborate with project engineers and managers to meet project specifications.
• Produce detailed piping layout drawings and isometrics.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and project requirements.
• Resolve design-related issues and perform necessary revisions.
• Good understanding of pipe support requirements and standards
• Coordination with Stress analysis team for producing code compliant piping layout
• Active participation in 3D model review and clash coordination.
• Responsible for adhering to company adopted QA/QC procedures.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Graduate in Non-Eng domain with piping design & drafting course from reputed institute.
• Proficiency is must in CAD & 3D modeling software’s such as Autodesk REVIT, AutoCAD. Knowledge of AutoCAD Plant 3D is a plus.
• Strong understanding of Piping design principles & standards
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, Piping specifications, and technical drawings.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities.
