Job summary

Fluence in Bangalore, India seeks a Senior OT/Network Engineer (EMEA Delivery) to lead project teams on cybersecurity, network architecture, and integration of Fluence BESS control systems with TSO SCADA.

The role requires 5+ years in OT/Networking within energy sectors, deep knowledge of OSI models, VPNs, Cisco gear, Linux scripting, and virtualization. Fluence offers growth and international collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's / Master's degree in computer engineering, information technology, computer science (or equivalent).
• Minimum 5 years of relevant OT / Networking experience in energy/utility sectors with EMS/SCADA exposure.
• Expert in OSI layer models and network design/deployment.
• Expert in remote access VPN, site-to-site VPN, Routers, Firewalls, Switches (Cisco + industrial equipment).
• Experience with Linux-based systems, Python and shell/bash scripting, and GitHub.
• Experience with virtualization: VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter; Proxmox; Storage (SAN/NAS).
• Understanding of OT cybersecurity principles and IEC 62443, NIS2, network segmentation, DMZ, IAM (RBAC/MFA).
• Familiarity with IEC104, Modbus TCP, OPC-UA, and other industrial protocols.
• Knowledge of AWS, Docker, automation tools (Jenkins, Ansible).
• Strong problem-solving, communication skills, English fluency; German beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Lead project teams on cybersecurity, network architecture and device integration.
• Oversee Fluence BESS control system integration with TSO SCADA systems, including network config and cybersecurity.
• Document network infrastructure for current and future projects, covering hardware, protocols and security strategies.
• Assess and address network/cybersecurity challenges, communicating vulnerabilities to stakeholders.
• Manage client and sub-contractor interfaces to ensure network compliance during Tender and Execution phases.
• Develop test procedures and execute FAT/SAT testing; assist in hands-on lab testing of prototypes.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Fluence products and network applications at site and enterprise levels.
• Strictly manage change control and related documentation.
• Stay current with industry best practices and new technologies for world-class network/cybersecurity practices.
• Provide reporting updates to leadership and contribute to company strategy.
• Develop performance management and feedback KPIs for Control System support teams.
• Execute tasks related to Fluence' safety KPIs.

Tasks

• Leading the Project team on realization of the Project specific requirements with existing functionalities: serve as the Subject Matter Expert regarding Cybersecurity, Network, Architecture and associated devices.
• Lead the integration of the Fluence BESS control system into the Transmission System Operator (TSO) SCADA systems: lead the Network configuration, communication interfaces, cybersecurity requirements, to meet TSO / Customer requirements.
• Develop and maintain documentation of for future and existing project on Network infrastructure including hardware, protocols, communication links and cybersecurity strategies.
• Involved in central network/cybersecurity for energy storage solutions, including guidance, evaluation and analysis of network/cybersecurity challenges. Ensuring network and communication security vulnerabilities are acknowledged and communicated to affected stakeholders.
• Manage interface to Client and sub-contractor to ensure Networks compliance and lead concept during Tender and Project Execution phase.
• Develop standardized test procedures and execute tests (FAT / SAT) to reduce commissioning time, and perform testing, including involvement in hands on lab testing during evaluations of prototype systems.
• Keep current with all Company products, developments, and projects as they apply to the Network at both site and enterprise levels.
• Maintain strict management of change control procedures and documentation.
• Remain current on industry best practices and updated technology to ensure the company is provided world-class Network and Cybersecurity practices.
• Support company strategy and provide relevant reporting and updates to Company leadership as needed.
• Develop and recommend performance management and feedback to current Control System technical support KPI's.
• Executing tasks related to Fluence' safety KPIs

Skill Requirements

• Bachelor's / Master's degree in computer engineering, information technology, computer science (or equivalent)
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in OT / Networking with a power utility or related industry and direct experience in the electricity transmission/distribution sector with EMS/SCADA systems.
• Expert of OSI layer models and experience in design and deploying network configurations.
• Expert in remote access VPN, site-to-site VPN, Routers, Firewalls, Switches (Cisco + industrial equipment), SD-WAN, Meraki.
• Experience in Linux based systems and commands, High-level programming languages such as Python and shell/bash scripting as well as with Github.
• Experience with virtualization infrastructure VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, Proxmox, Storage technologies (SAN/NAS), backup and disaster recovery architectures
• Understanding of OT cybersecurity principles and standards (IEC 62443, NIS2, Network segmentation and DMZ design, Identity and Access Management (RBAC/MFA))
• Familiarity with industrial protocols (IEC104, Modbus TCP, OPC-UA, etc.)
• Knowledge about AWS, Docker, automation tools (Jenkins, Ansible).
