An application made for this job — a tailored resume and cover letter that speak straight to the posting.
ThoughtSpot is seeking a Senior Member of Technical Staff (Backend) to own and optimize core platform APIs. You will work on high-scale metadata services, authentication, and data orchestration, shaping production-grade backend systems.
The role emphasizes ownership, telemetry, and performance under heavy load, with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud infrastructure as part of daily work.
The Core App Services team is the backbone of ThoughtSpot’s "Search & AI" engine. We build the application platform that powers authentication, authorisation, metadata management, search infra, etc. for our global SaaS ecosystem. If you enjoy solving the "hard problems" of distributed systems—like ensuring millisecond latency and high availability, this is the team for you.
As a Senior Member of Technical Staff (Backend), you will be a senior contributor in our team. This isn't a "business-as-usual" feature role; you will work on high-impact engineering challenges where you will build the scalable patterns that every other service at ThoughtSpot will follow. You will take ownership of critical backend services (high scale metadata layer with a lot of complex modelling, app foundation, etc.) and ensure they are resilient, secure, and hyper-scalable as we move to a cloud-native, production-first world.
Design and optimize the mission-critical APIs that handle complex metadata, authentication, authorization, and core data orchestration.
Implement sophisticated features which enterprise customers can build upon, such as multi-tenancy (orgs), support for high scale, solving for noisy neighbours, etc.
Own your services from local dev to production. You’ll optimize for high RPS (Requests Per Second), low latency, memory and maintain high availability. You will show ownership mentality and follow the best practices for monitoring to identify and address issues in production proactively before customers hit them.
6-9 years of deep backend experience, with a track record of building distributed systems at scale.
Expert-level proficiency in Java (Spring Boot) or Go. You should understand JVM internals or Go concurrency patterns deeply.
Strong grasp of Distributed Systems, CAP theorem, and consistency models.
Hands-on experience with Kafka for event-driven flows and high-performance databases (PostgreSQL, NoSQL, or Caching layers like Redis).
Practical experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Cloud Infrastructure.
A "Production-First" mentality. You care about telemetry, tracing, and how your code behaves under heavy load.
