Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer - HVAC to join our Bangalore team. You will lead mechanical design to international standards, model HVAC systems in Revit, and perform detailed calculations with Hevacomp, HAP and IES.

You will coordinate with system engineers and other disciplines, drive technical governance, and mentor staff while delivering projects on time and within budget. Proficiency in BIM and client communication is essential.

Qualifications

• 15 years of experience as a mechanical engineer within building services.
• Experience in multi-disciplinary environments and coordination with Architecture, Civil and Structural.
• Healthcare building and Rail/Metro project experience preferred.
• Experience as a Project Manager for small/medium complex projects with strong technical input.
• Leads and guides teams on quality procedures for medium to large projects.
• Demonstrates professional development and BIM/PHoD support where required.
• Good command of IT tools and ability to deliver clear technical reports.

Responsibilities

• Carry out mechanical calculations using Hevacomp, HAP, IES, eQUEST and related software.
• Ensure governance structures and project deliverables are met on time and cost.

• Develop technical capability within the team and promote knowledge sharing.
• Prepare feasibility studies and sustainability reports for building projects.
• Estimate pricing for projects within area of expertise.

Job Description Overview

We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer- HVAC to join our team. This role will be based at our AtkinsRealis office in Bangalore, IN.

Your role

To perform this role successfully, the candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to the following:

• Undertake Mechanical design to local and International standards, including Canada, USA and UK regions.
• Understand and apply Canada / USA and British / European and AtkinsRealis standards.
• Undertake design and Revit Modelling of a variety of Mechanical design elements i.e., Air conditioning, ventilation, tunnel ventilation, and have an understanding of plumbing and firefighting design support.
• Carry out Mechanical calculations using Hevacomp, HAP, IES, eQUEST, Revit and other equivalent software.
• Ensures technical governance structures and processes are adhered to.
• Develops technical capability of team/business.
• Promotes technical capability within business e.g. papers, case studies etc.
• Responsible for the completion of projects within his/her team to time and cost.
• Check own and team mechanical design deliverables and be able to check design prepared within own team and other groups within area of expertise.
• Realistically estimate pricing associated with projects within their area of expertise.
• Undertake liaison with System engineers, third parties and specialist system suppliers and incorporate their requirements in the detail design.
• Carry out feasibility studies and prepare reports for sustainability options within the building and infrastructure services.
• Coordinate with all other disciplines and improve inter-disciplinary working with other disciplines such as Architecture, Civil and Structural.

About you

Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent; Previous mechanical engineering or design role within a consultancy

• Working towards Chartered Engineer (PEng/CEng/IEng) or be able to prove progression towards Chartership.
• Relevant and appropriate experience of 15 years as a mechanical engineer within building services.
• Experience of working in Multi-D environment and good understanding of co-ordination and interfaces with other disciplines.
• Experience of infrastructure projects with recent Healthcare building & Rail / Metro experience is preferred.
• May have performed the role of Project Manager (PM) for small/med complex projects while maintaining essential technical input.
• Leads and guides the teams for quality procedures on medium to large (multi-disciplinary) projects.
• Drives right behaviors within practice for knowledge management and support PHoD or Head of Discipline Influence teams for Continuous Professional Development events and support where required.
• Manages a team or group of teams and support for the staff development.
• Be a competent user of IT tools in particular Word, Excel, Outlook Wider knowledge of other disciplines is desirable.
• Authors technical reports of acceptable technical and presentational quality.
• Able to present their work on the project presentations and meetings.
• Able to deliver work and integrate with larger project teams.
• Good report writing skills, experience of making presentations to and attending meetings with clients is essential.

Mandatory Requirements

• Proactive and member of ASHARE or IMechE or CIBSE and working towards PEng / CEng / IEng status would be preferred.
• Relevant and appropriate experience as a design Engineer within building services.
• Good command of the English and French languages and an effective communicator, both written and verbal
• You will be a competent designer to CIBSE and ASHARE standards.
• You will have experience of computer-based design tools such as Hevacomp, HAP and IES etc.
• You should have hands‑on experience in preparing Revit 3D models, review Navisworks files and managing design delivery using BIM expertise.
• You will have experience in Revit and have delivered projects using Revit / BIM skills.
• Demonstrates the necessary level of competence and responsibility according to the grade.
• You will manage productivity and quality of your deliverables.
• Maintains harmony and a productive atmosphere by being open about the work activities and project status.
• Good command of the English language and effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Knowledge of French is beneficial, and willingness to undertake French language training as per business requirements.
