Job summary

Worley is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the static equipment design team in Chennai. You will oversee pressure vessels, columns, storage tanks, and related equipment, perform and review calculations, and ensure compliance with international design codes such as ASME VIII and API.

You will coordinate with disciplines and clients, prepare technical bids, vendor reviews, and drive timely project delivery while mentoring engineers and ensuring quality across the design deliverables.

Qualifications

• BE /B.Tech Mechanical with 15+ years experience in mechanical static equipment design.
• Sound technical and practical engineering skills and ability to deliver quality work.
• Working knowledge of local and international standards and statutory specifications.
• Competent use of mechanical engineering software such as PV Elite, Compress, MS Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Lead the team of static equipment engineers and provide technical guidance.
• Prepare and check material requisitions, specifications, data sheets, ITPs, etc.
• Prepare and check mechanical design calculations and verify designs.
• Vendor bid evaluation and preparation of Technical Bid reports.
• Coordinate with other disciplines and clients for resolution of engineering issues and developments.
• Progress reporting for project activities and ensure compliance with standards.

The Role

As a Manager I, Mechanical Engineer with Worley, you will work closely with our existing team to deliver projects for our clients for the various static equipment including

• Pressure Vessels
• Columns
• Storage Tanks
• Filters and Associated Equipment

Preparation and checking of Material requisitions, Specifications, Data sheets, ITP etc

Prepare and check mechanical design calculations and verify designs.

Vendor offer evaluation and preparation of Technical Bid reports.

• Preparation of Purchase Order documents.

Vendor document review including review and approval of GA drawings, calculations and fabrication drawings.

Lead the team of static equipment engineers and provide technical guidance to the team to perform the required job.

Capable to upskill the static equipment engineers with lesser experience.

• Coordination with other disciplines for resolution of various Engineering issues and development.
• Coordination with the Client for resolution of Engineering issues and developments.
• Organizing different meetings with different disciplines, Vendors, Client for resolution of various Engineering issues/activities.

Progress reporting for the various Project activities.

Ensure compliance with project specifications and design standards.

Codes & Standards

• Apply and interpret international design codes and standards, including:
  • ASME Section VIII Div. 1 & 2
  • ASME Section I & II
  • TEMA
  • API Standards (where applicable)
• Ensure designs meet statutory and regulatory requirements.

About You

To be considered for this role it is envisaged you will possess the following attributes:

• Engineering experience in the same or similar industry.
• BE /B.Tech Mechanical with 15+ Years experience in the field of Mechanical static equipment design.
• Sound technical and practical engineering skills and ability to consistently deliver quality, accurate and timely work to Worley and its customers.
• A working knowledge of the fundamental requirements of Mechanical engineering, and the basic requirements of other engineering fields.
• A working knowledge of applicable local and international standards and statutory and regulatory specifications.
• Competent use of Mechanical engineering specific software and relevant software such as PV Elite, Compress, MS Office Suite, etc.
