Job summary

Microfactory Manufacturing in Ahmedabad is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the mechanical design of custom components from concept through production readiness. This on-site role requires hands-on CAD work, detailed calculations, and cross‑functional collaboration with suppliers and manufacturing teams.

You will mentor junior engineers, drive design for manufacturability and assembly (DFM/DFA), and ensure designs meet quality, cost, and performance targets in international supply

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in Mechanical Engineering, including mechanics, materials, and manufacturing processes.
• Proficiency in Machine Design for custom components, assemblies, and mechanisms.
• Advanced skills in Computer‑Aided Design (CAD) tools (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, or similar) for 3D modeling and technical drawings.
• Experience in Project Management, including planning, scheduling, risk mitigation, and cross‑functional coordination.
• Background in Research and Development (R&D), including concept evaluation, prototyping, and validation testing.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Experience in precision manufacturing, supplier collaboration, and design for manufacturability and assembly (DFM/DFA).
• Ability to interpret international engineering and quality standards, and work within global supply chains.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills, with the ability to document and present technical information clearly.
• Demonstrated ability to work on‑site in a fast‑paced environment, lead technical initiatives, and support junior team members.

Role Description

The Senior Mechanical Engineer role is a full‑time, on‑site position based in Ahmedabad. This role is responsible for leading the mechanical design and development of custom engineered components and systems, from initial concept through to production readiness. Daily activities include performing detailed mechanical calculations, developing and reviewing CAD models and drawings, collaborating with suppliers on manufacturability, and supporting prototype builds and testing. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will coordinate cross‑functional project activities, manage timelines and technical documentation, and contribute to continuous improvement of design standards and engineering processes. The role also involves mentoring junior engineers, supporting customer technical discussions, and ensuring designs meet quality, cost, and performance requirements.
