We are seeking a high-performing procurement leader to lead India's Indirect Strategic Sourcing function and drive value creation through category management, supplier partnerships, cost optimization, and business collaboration.
Opportunity
Lead the India Indirect Strategic Sourcing function and shape category strategy, sourcing execution, productivity delivery and supplier governance across Professional Services, IT and Digital Technology, Telecom, Travel and Hotels, Fleet, Energy, Gas and Chemicals, MRO, Facilities, Corporate Services, Insurance, Office Supplies, Packing, Consumables, Rent and other indirect categories. Lead the sourcing team and partner with senior India, APAC and Global stakeholders. The role is accountable for approximately USD 20 million of indirect spend and Pan-India supplier-base governance, including supplier segmentation, consolidation and low-spend tail reduction, while safeguarding service continuity.
Key Responsibilities
- Category strategy and sourcing execution: develop fact-based category strategies across assigned indirect categories using spend insights, demand forecasts, supply-market intelligence, cost drivers and stakeholder requirements. Lead sourcing initiatives from opportunity assessment through supplier selection, negotiation, contracting, transition and post-award governance. Create scalable sourcing approaches that improve commercial outcomes, service quality, standardization and speed of execution.
- Productivity, demand management and value realization: build and maintain a qualified savings and cost-avoidance pipeline, ensuring assumptions, baselines and benefits are aligned with Finance. Monitor project delivery, resolve execution barriers and provide transparent reporting on pipeline health, realize benefits and risks. Conduct quarterly spend governance with internal stakeholders, challenge specifications, consumption patterns and service models with stakeholders to unlock demand-side value, not only price reductions.
- Business partnership and influence: partner with senior leaders across Finance, HR, Digital Technology, Operations, Legal, Real Estate, Service and other functions to understand priorities early and shape effective sourcing solutions. Act as a trusted partner, balancing business speed, total cost, service continuity, compliance and risk. Facilitate cross-functional decisions through clear recommendations, robust data and effective stakeholder alignment. Coordinate insurance management for projects and employees with internal stakeholders and service providers, ensuring timely coverage and effective issue resolution.
- Supplier governance, contracting and risk: lead high-value negotiations and establish commercial models, contractual protections, performance measures and governance mechanisms. Own Pan-India supplier-base rationalization through commodity and sub-commodity segmentation, supplier consolidation and low-spend tail reduction. Ensure the timely execution and renewal of supplier agreements, periodic supplier evaluations, performance monitoring, corrective-action closure and development of alternate suppliers. Review requests for new-vendor creation, validate the business requirement and prioritize the use or expansion of existing capable suppliers before approving additions. Coordinate supplier consolidation and vendor-master updates with relevant stakeholders. Ensure contractual obligations, policy compliance, business continuity and third-party risks are actively managed.
- APAC and Global collaboration: collaborate with APAC and Global category leaders to leverage regional or global agreements, share local market intelligence and accelerate adoption of global strategies. Represent India requirements in regional initiatives and ensure regional strategies are translated into practical local execution. Promote standard processes, digital sourcing tools, analytics and knowledge sharing across the broader sourcing network.
- Escalation management and issue resolution: own and manage operational escalations related to supplier performance, service disruptions, corrective actions, commercial or contractual matters and stakeholder concerns, ensuring timely resolution, clear accountability and business continuity.
- People leadership and functional excellence: set clear objectives, coach team members and build capability in Indirect category, analytics, negotiation, contracting and stakeholder engagement. Create a high-accountability and collaborative culture focused on business outcomes, integrity and continuous improvement. Strengthen sourcing processes, controls, documentation and management reporting to improve consistency and audit readiness.
- Support APA initiatives: beyond managing India responsibilities, the candidate will support APAC lead for APAC-wide procurement initiatives through coordination of regional projects, consolidation of savings and performance data, preparation of management reports, tracking of key actions, and timely response to global leadership and business information requests.
