Job summary

Whirlpool India is seeking an experienced Embedded Hardware Leader to guide the hardware development lifecycle for consumer electronics. You will oversee digital/analog circuit design, MCU and PCB layout, and power management, while coordinating with software teams to ensure seamless integration.

Lead a team of engineers, plan milestones, conduct rigorous hardware testing, and drive design reviews. A strong background in Cadence/Altium and compliance with safety standards is essential.

Qualifications

• Expert in design of digital and analog circuits, schematic capture, and PCB layout.
• Strong familiarity with microcontrollers/microprocessors and embedded systems architectures.
• Proficient with UART, SPI, I2C, USB, Ethernet; wireless protocols like Bluetooth and Wi‑Fi.
• Hands-on hardware debugging with oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
• Experience with Cadence, Altium, Eagle, or KiCad tools.
• Exposure to safety, UL/IEC/CE regulatory standards is a plus.
• Proven leadership and project management skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and support throughout the hardware development lifecycle to team members.
• Lead technical forum within team and cross-technology teams to share knowledge and best practices
• Pro-active knowledge documentation and sharing within team and amongst cross technology teams
• Oversee the design and development of embedded hardware systems, including microcontrollers, PCBs, and other electronic components.
• Collaborate closely with the software engineering team to ensure seamless integration between hardware and software components.
• Plan and execute hardware development projects, defining milestones, timelines, and resource allocation to achieve project objectives efficiently.
• Conduct thorough hardware testing and validation to ensure the reliability, performance, and compliance of the hardware designs.
• Review and approve schematic diagrams, PCB layouts, Wiring Architecture and other hardware/component design documents created by the team.
• Conduct subsystem design reviews interfacing with leadership and cross functional for gaining alignment at each build.
• Make strategic decisions regarding component selection, sourcing, and vendor relationships to optimize cost, quality, and availability.
• Optimize hardware designs for power efficiency, performance, and manufacturability.
• Address technical challenges and roadblocks, proposing innovative solutions and leading the team to successful outcomes.
• Maintain a strong awareness of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in embedded hardware development.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management and manufacturing, to ensure successful product launches.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and innovation within the hardware engineering team.
• Ensure all hardware design activities are documented thoroughly and comply with relevant standards and regulations.

The team you will be a part of

The Software Engineering team designs, develops or coordinates development/troubleshooting or debugging of moderately complex software programs for enhancements and new products. Performs high-level design/modeling to convert stakeholder needs into software solutions. Develops software and tools in support of design, infrastructure and technology platforms. Determines hardware compatibility and/or influences hardware design. Develops the architectural guidelines, specifications, and technical standards and communicates to stakeholders.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

• Proven expertise in designing digital and analog circuits, schematic capture, and PCB layout.
• Extensive knowledge of microcontrollers/microprocessors and various embedded systems architectures.
• Strong familiarity with communication interfaces such as UART, SPI, I2C, USB, Ethernet, and wireless protocols (Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, etc.).
• Hands-on experience with hardware debugging tools and test equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, logic analyzers).
• Extensive experience with circuit design related to analog/digital signals, microcontrollers (Microchip, NXP, Renesas, STMicroelectronics, TI, GigaDevice), motor controls (for permanent magnet and induction motors), AC to DC power conversion, and EMI/EMC principles
• Working knowledge of Cadence design tools - schematic entry, circuit simulation and PCB layout experience required
• Agency standards (UL, IEC, CE, CQC, CCC) experience must
• Proficient in using CAD tools for schematic capture and PCB layout (e.g., Altium Designer, Eagle, KiCad).
• Thorough understanding of power management techniques and low-power design principles.
• Familiarity with safety-critical and regulatory compliance in embedded systems.
• Excellent leadership, project management, and team collaboration skills.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.

Minimum Requirements

Education-

B.E./B.Tech or M.E./M.Tech in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, Power Electronics Engineering

Experience-

Minimum 12-16 years experience in household appliance/consumer electronics hardware development, circuit design and verification (microcontrollers, mixed-signal components, motor controls and AC to DC power conversion, Power Electronics)
