Job summary
Charles Schwab in Hyderabad is seeking a senior software architect to lead the design and delivery of full-stack capabilities for investment research. You will set technical direction, partner with product owners and researchers, and own cloud-ready, event-driven microservices and APIs.
You will champion engineering excellence, advance CI/CD practices, resolve production issues, mentor engineers, and drive modernization while aligning architecture with governance and security standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in CS/IS/Engineering or related field.
- 7+ years of experience building production-grade apps with Java (Spring Boot) and Python.
- Experience leading technical teams, setting architecture direction and mentoring engineers.
- Experience building cloud-ready, event-driven microservices and APIs with Kafka/RabbitMQ and REST.
- Hybrid on-prem and cloud integrations experience.
- Strong SQL (PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, DynamoDB, Bigtable).
- Interest in financial datasets and data engineering workflows.
- Hands-on CI/CD and container delivery (GitHub CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, Bamboo/Jenkins).
- Security-minded coding and code quality using SonarQube, CodeQL, Veracode.
- Experience applying SOLID and 12-Factor App concepts.

- Lead design and delivery of full-stack software for investment research initiatives, setting technical direction.

- Lead the design and delivery of full-stack software capabilities for investment research initiatives, setting technical direction while remaining hands-on across design, development, and support.

- Advance the team's delivery model by maturing CI/CD workflows and DevOps practices to improve quality and speed to production.

- Set direction with ownership and transparency, communicating priorities, tradeoffs, risks, and progress to technical and senior business stakeholders.

- Establish responsible use of approved Generative AI capabilities to improve developer productivity and code quality, within enterprise governance, security, and compliance expectations.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 7+ years of experience developing production-grade applications using Java (Spring Boot) and Python, including senior technical leadership on complex initiatives.
- Demonstrated experience providing technical leadership across teams-setting architecture direction, driving technical decisions, and mentoring engineers.
- Demonstrated ability to build cloud-ready, event-driven microservices and APIs at scale using common messaging patterns (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ) and RESTful services.
- Proven experience designing and building hybrid on-premises and cloud integrations.
- Strong working knowledge of SQL (e.g., PostgreSQL) and NoSQL technologies (e.g., MongoDB, DynamoDB, Bigtable), and sound judgment on when to apply each.
- Interest to work with financial datasets and partner effectively on data engineering workflows and analytics use cases.
- Hands-on experience using CI/CD and container-based delivery practices (e.g., GitHub CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, Bamboo/Jenkins).
- Working knowledge of secure coding and code quality practices using common analysis tools (e.g., SonarQube, CodeQL, Veracode).
- Demonstrated skill in designing maintainable solutions using established engineering standards (e.g., SOLID principles, 12-Factor App), appropriate data structures, algorithms, and modern design patterns.
- Experience modernizing data platforms or research technology in a regulated industry (financial services is a plus).
- Familiarity with rules engines (e.g., Drools) and data lake patterns for large-scale time series datasets.
- Working familiarity with investment research, asset management, or another regulated financial data domain (e.g., risk, compliance, or regulatory reporting workflows).
- Experience collaborating with quantitative partners to enable or operationalize models (Python or R).
- Demonstrated ability to balance near-term delivery with longer-term architecture evolution and platform scalability.
- Experience building data visualizations or dashboards using Python-based tooling (e.g., Plotly Dash or similar).
- Strong prioritization and communication skills, including comfort explaining complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- A continuous improvement mindset-bringing ideas that strengthen team delivery, quality, and collaboration.
- Experience leading cross-team technical initiatives or influencing engineering practices beyond a single team.
