Job summary

TATA MOTORS in Pune seeks an experienced engineer to evaluate new products from a serviceability and maintainability perspective, and to enhance diagnostic capabilities for field service. Qualifications

• BE/B.Tech in Automobile or related field required.
• 5–7 years of experience in the automobile industry.
• Hands-on knowledge of serviceability, maintainability and service tools.

Responsibilities

• New product evaluations: assess serviceability, layout, and repair time for vehicles and aggregates; share observations with stakeholders.
• Identify and evaluate special tools and repair processes; provide feedback to relevant teams.
• Perform repair time studies for existing and new jobs; contribute to system/warranty decisions.
• Develop and evaluate new service products and tools with vendors and suppliers; aid in training aids.
• Coordinate trials of service products with stakeholders; support launch readiness.
• Maintenance & upkeep: audit tools and equipment; coordinate with CMS for compliance and calibration; conduct safety drills.
• Collaborate with central teams to ensure legal and safety standards; improve channel partner productivity and repair quality.

Job description

Purpose of the Role

To evaluate new products/vehicles from customer perspective (service provider/ channel partner) in terms of serviceability, maintainability and repair time/cost by carrying out the physical exercise on products and provide feedback to respective stakeholders for corrections. This is to ensure trouble free operation & launch readiness for new product/vehicle within Organization Policies and statutory norms.

Also to develop and evaluate new special service equipment/tools, service process and service solution etc. for field service application by performing trials in order to enhance the performance of channel partners in terms of productivity and repair quality by improvement in diagnostic capabilities, ease of vehicle repairs, ease of operations & better agronomy etc.

Job Responsibility

1. New product evaluations:

• Perform SAM (Serviceability & maintainability), VLO (vehicle lay out), Customer Touch point evaluations of new products and aggregates at all stages and share observations/feedback with various stakeholders
• Identify & evaluate special tools, repair process on new products & feedback to respective stakeholders.
• Perform repair time study on existing & new jobs and provide inputs to respective stakeholders (System/Warranty/NPM)
• In order to ensure trouble free operation, ease of repair & launch readiness.

2. New Product Development:

• Development of new service product, special tools based on field service requirements by aiding design concepts through vendors & suppliers.
• Conduct joint evaluation & trials of new service products with various stake holders.
• Evaluate & recommend new suppliers of new service products.
• Prepare, recommend & release training aids, circulars on new service products.
• In order to enhance the capability of channel partners, aid in improving productivity & quality repairs.

3. Maintenance & up keep:

• Audit of tools, equipment & department vehicles, take necessary corrective action through various stakeholders
• Co-ordination with Central Maintenance Services (CMS) to fulfil legal requirements of Tech Centre by regular stamping & calibration of machines & equipment.
• Conduct mock safety drills periodically
• In order to maintain proper utilization, safe & better working condition in Tech Centre.
