They enable the smooth functioning of networks, servers, and data centres to optimise performance and minimise downtime. In infrastructure engineering at PwC, you will focus on designing and implementing robust and scalable technology infrastructure solutions for clients. Your work will involve network architecture, server management, and cloud computing experience.

Senior Support Database Administrator (DBA) and DevOps, responsible for managing and maintaining an organizations database systems, ensuring their performance, security, and availability of our data platforms and application delivery pipelines across cloud and onprem. This role involves working closely with IT teams and stakeholders to design database solutions that align with business needs.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain complex database systems, ensuring their reliability and performance.
• Monitor database performance and troubleshoot issues to minimize downtime and optimize efficiency.
• Define technical vision and roadmaps for database platforms, CI/CD, infrastructure, observability, and automation.
• Own the production database estate across RDBMS and NoSQL (e.g., PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis).
• Architect and operate highavailability and disaster recovery clustering, replication, sharding, crossregion failover; define and meet RTO/RPO.
• Own CI/CD pipelines and release processes for application and database changes; promote trunkbased development and GitOps.
• Infrastructure as Code for repeatable environments (Terraform, Ansible, Helm/Kustomize); manage multiaccount/multiproject governance.
• Operate Kubernetes and container platforms (provisioning, scaling, upgrades, service mesh, secrets management, runtime security).
• Integrate security into the delivery lifecycle (DevSecOps) vulnerability scanning, dependency management, policyascode, secrets management.
• Develop and implement database backup, recovery, and security protocols to protect data integrity.
• Collaborate with development teams to design database architecture and integrate new applications.
• Conduct regular database audits to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
• Plan and execute database upgrades and migrations with minimal impact on business operations.
• Provide expert guidance and mentorship to junior database administrators and IT staff.
• Create and maintain documentation related to database configurations, processes, and policies

Collaborate with development team to support application data needs.

Mandatory skill sets

• Proficiency in database management systems such as SQL Server, MySQL, AWS RDS, PostgreSQL, or others
• Deep expertise in at least one major RDBMS (PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or Oracle) and one NoSQL technology (e.g., MongoDB, Redis, Cassandra).
• Strong understanding of database architecture, design, and performance tuning
• Expertise in database security practices and data protection regulations
• Experience with database backup and recovery strategies
• DevOps GitHub/GitLab/Bitbucket; Jenkins/GitHub Actions/GitLab CI; Terraform; Ansible; Helm/Kustomize; Kubernetes; Docker; Argo CD/Flux; HashiCorp Vault
• Strong DevOps/SRE background CI/CD, Git, infrastructure as code, Kubernetes, cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP)
• Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, Shell) for automation tasks
• Ability to analyze and solve complex technical problems
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Experienced in Cloud database services (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database)
• Ensure databases are secure from unauthorized access and vulnerabilities
• Implement security measures to protect database integrity and confidentiality, including encryption, auditing, and access controls
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, processes, and policies
• Ensure databases comply with organizational policies and industry regulations
• Document database configurations, processes, and procedures for reference and training purposes
